True. After all, the Mavs did lose 4 straight games to the Heat in the Finals. Yep, time to bring in Joey Crawford for games 4-7!
I think the lakers could pretty much end up doing anything. Coming back, getting swept, etc...hard to say, but it wouldnt surprise me if they came back.
Remember 2006? Mavs up 2-0. Heat rattle off the next 4. No, not a 7-game series, not down 3-0. But most everyone was writing off the Heat after the first two games. Miami swept them away after sniffing out everything that Dallas could throw at them. Yes, this is a different level. Lakers lost first two at home. They're down 3-0. They're gonna have to sweep and take two of those games on their opponent's home court. It would be a colossal reversal like none ever seen. But if there's a team that could choke away this momentum, it's the Mavs. And if there's a team that can get up off the deck and win, it's the Lakers.
Stern called in a hit, and it was the most disturbing WWF move he ever pulled. It was 10% a Mavs choke, 10% Heat stepping up, and 80% Refs calling phantom fouls anytime someone looked directly at Wade. I could see the Lakers avoiding a sweep, but they're imploding. Kobe's reverting back to his post-Shaq form, treating teammaes like crap and refusing to share the ball. Gasol's quit. Bynum is sick of Kobe's crap. Hard cap coming. Dynasty's over.
I think LA could do it; but I honestly don't think that they will. I wouldn't be surprised to see it go to 6 though.
i just don't see this mavs team coughing up a 3-0 lead. their defense is too good to let it happen. several years back, this mavs team would do it of course. but not now.
in the nba, when a team goes 2-0, every prognosticator jumps on the bandwagon only to jump off it and jump on the bandwagon of the team that tied it at 2-2, only to jump off that one, and jump back on the original team when they lead 3-2, only to jump off it when the other team ties it at 3-3. On game seven, prognosticators give us their brilliant insight of "It's anybody's game now." Mama, there goes that man. Next thread: The Lakers are the only team that can come back from an 0-4 deficit.
Portland almost did it in 2003 when they won 3 straight to force Dallas into a game 7 and at that time game 7 was at home for Dallas and this laker team is better than that portland team in 2003. not saying it will happen but it has come close before and the team that almost blew it was dallas, they have a second chance now to see if they can blow a 3-0 lead but then again i personally do not see this series going past 5 games..why i mean after a while you kind of have to just say even though the lakers are the 2 time defending champs they just arent as good this year, too many mental lapses, could be injuries, personal issues what not but they are just not playing well at all the last 2 months. phil jackson has done a terrible job of coaching he should have started last month when the lakers had that 4-5 game slide before the playoffs started not during game 3 of the second round
Agree with this somewhat. Kobe could just quit like he did in that Phoenix series years ago or the Lakers could find it all of a sudden and take it. My best guess is Lakers fall in six. I don't think they can win two games in Dallas at this point.
I disgaree with with the OP. If the Lakers were at full strength (body and mind), they could indeed rip off four straight wins. But this team looks broken, petty, and arguing with one another. When I look back at teams that won three straight elimination games, they were almost always tight teams that played well together and had a deep belief in themselves to prevail. I think Kobe thinks he'll win this series (at least when he's speaking to reporters), but the rest know it's over. The body language of the Lakers and of Kobe in this game reminded me of the Phoenix series 4 or 5 years ago where Kobe kind of mailed it in at the end. You've also got Pau in a deep funk that he won't shake for four straight games and a Laker bench (other than Odom) that is pretty terrible. Lakers might make it a game, but the Mavs will take over down the stretch. This series ends in a sweep.
I wouldn't be shocked if LA came back But for the people who bring up the Heat series. There is a huge difference between being down 0-2 and being down 0-3.
