Let's see, KG is a better passer, more efficient scorer, gets just as many steals, blocks more shots, and rebounds almost twice as much. He can also shut down the lane in addition to being able to chase guys around on the perimeter like TMac. TMac has more range on his jumper, and thats it. Kevin has been stuck in Minnesota and only had good teammates one year (going to the WCF) before Sam and Spree flipped out. I don't think it is impossible to argue that KG is better than TMac.

KG is more "durable" than Tmac. Remember KG held extreme pride in his string of 400 or so consecutive games for the period of a couple of seasons.

The joke is on you. Garnett played in:

    81 games (99-00), then 81, 81, 82, 82, and 76 last year.

He has missed 9 games in the last six years and the end of last year was when they pulled him because they didn't have a chance at the playoffs.

No, who would rise up for the game winner. Who would hit the three. T-mac is like only one that can go one on one and take it. KG wouldnt be able to take the three. Luther is a spot up shooter.

does kg have that explosiveness tmac has?
does kg ever dagger the opponents with 3s?
does kg ever take over the game?

    1. Yes, more since TMac has relegated himself to being a jumpshooter. Especially on the defensive end.
    2. Yep, he did it to the Kings last season, which didn't make my cousin too happy. More often it is a move in the post or a shot in someone's face from the FT line though.
    3. Yes, on both sides of the ball. Though he is not the scorer that TMac is, he does score efficiently and can elevate his game on both sides to carry his team (taking them to the playoffs nearly every season).

Wolves making it to the WCF had less to do with Garnett and more to do with the Cassell/Sprewell show.

Not knowing to when to take over a game is not the same as passing and making your teamates better.

Garnett is a great forward no doubt, but definitely no where as versatile as tmac

KG in those playoffs averaged 24-15-5 plus over 2 blocks per game. Oh, he wasn't the major factor for the Wolves advancing that far, oh no.

KG has had more playoff succes than Tmac (or Kobe without Shaq), that is a fact. While I'd rather have both qualities (Wade has proven it, Duncan has proven it, Nash shows it), if picking between 1) a guy proven to have a great all around game and who makes his teammates better, or 2) a great scorer who is great in the clutch as an individual but who hasn't proven to be able to get his teammates behind him, I take option 1).

So yes I would probably trade Tmac for KG, particularly if we think Tmac isn't going to return to 100% form because of health reasons.

But I don't see it happening. I think with James and Foye adding much punch to Minny they are going to be a playoff team, and will be happy with their progress, and barring a terrible health for Yao/Tmac the Rockets will be a solid playoff team. And if either teams struggle becausing their superstars are not healthy, it will be hard to trade them for another superstar.

If the trade includes McGrady/Head (or even Alston) for KG/Foye, then Foye would be the player to hit the trey or drive to the rack.

James does much the same things that Foye would. Minny could afford to include him in the trade package. In fact, if I was the Houston brass, I would insist on it. Foye, along w/Roy, was one of the few draftees who could make an immediate impact at NBA level.

If Houston had acquired James, a longer PG would have been necessary anyway. Both James & Foye are naturally suited to SG.

KillBill at 6'4 may fill this role. Planinic at 6'7 is also available.

I love McGrady, but my vote is for KG.

With the condition that Foye is part of the package.

    C: Yao/Deke/KG (small ball)
    PF: KG/Hayes/Battier
    SF: Battier/Novak/Snyder
    SG: Snyder/Foye/Battier
    PG: KillBill/Planinic/JLIII

*Trade Howard for anything - even Darius Miles. If Planinic is not signed, trade a future 2nd for Steve Blake (underrated, young & a starter).

Team more balanced (to play big or small) - players not forced to play out of position.

KG and yao would resemble duncan and robinson..just put guards out there that can feed the post, hit open shots, and play decent perimeter defense

KG has a habit to dispear in the 4th quarter. If Tmac returns 100%, then I'd rather have him to close games for us.

KG doesnt take over games hes too unselfish for that. But with Yao around maybe he wont have to. The reason hes more efficient is because he rarely tries to take over, and hes not a great inside presence either. Tmacs younger and will surpass KG soon
