    kidd is not overrated, he's just over the hill now due to his health. Cassell's not far behind. Pretty much we've seen the best of kidd and cassell already, but they're both still solid starting pg, IF healthy. Cassell's probably in a better condition than kidd when the season starts, but don't mean he'll remain healthy. I'd have to say trading cassell for kidd is something both mn and nj might be reluctant to do because mn would have doubt about kidd's being fully recovered from the surgery, and nj gonna ask for half of the wolves lineup for kidd, just cause they still think kidd's da best pg in da league.

    Only possible way that could work (NY receiving almost $25 million in contracts; Sam/Ervin/Wally), would be the Knicks moving Marbury or Tim Thomas in addition to Kurt Thomas. Would the Nets really take him back?

    What I've heard is that Isiah's trying to wedge into the deal not only because he wants Wally, but because he's still deluded enough to think he can sucker someone into taking Moochie or Shandon Anderson.

    Wolves bring in Kidd and Kurt Thomas ($21 mill)
    Wolves ship out Sam, Wally, Ervin ($20 mill)
    -->Checks out (within 15%)

    Nets ship out Kidd and Williams ($18 mill)
    Nets receive (Tim?) Thomas ($13 mill)
    -->Requires $2 to $8 mill to work.

    Knicks send out K Thomas, T Thomas ($19 mill)
    Knicks receive Cassell, Wally, Ervin, Williams ($23 mill)
    -->Trade is short by about $1 million (need to still send $1 to $8)

    For this to work as constructed, the NYK still need to send someone making around $3 million to the Nets. Mike Sweetney would work, Amaechi could go just to be waived, Isiah will no doubt try and push Moochie on them, even Baker would work.

    *Wolves make this move if they think Sam is shot, that Wally is persona non grata on the roster, that Kidd is going to still be in his prime, or if they have rocks in their head.

    *Knicks make this move because they come out like kings. Until they realize that Starbury, Crawford, and Sammy can't possibly coexist on the same depth chart. Wally basically corrects Isiah's KVH for Tim Thomas f-up.

    *Nets make this move because they know Kidd is done, and Fugazi Thomas can play either forward spot and comes off the books in 2 years.

    Odds that this deal happens? Somewhere in the decimal ranges.
