Since they just traded for Tatum Bell, I'd assume the Lions wouldn't take AP.

so everyone assumes Jamarcus is a lock to go number one now?

I don't think that's anywhere close to being the case just yet. I could definitely see them picking JT or CJ.

Supposedly, the new Raiders coach demanded the team to draft Jamarcus before he was hired. I'm not sure if that has been confirmed, but I'd say it's a 75% possibility the Raiders pick Jamarcus.

when is the last time a WR helped turn a team around? Calvin Johnson is a verified bad ass, but this team doesn't need wide outs with a number 1 pick. WR's are complementary players.

There is a mockdraft website (might be eastcoastsportsnews.com) posting a rumor that the Packers may send A. Rogers to the Raiders for Moss. If that is the case you have to think the Raiders would take C.Johnson ( I'd take him anyway with the first pick but that is just me). The same site postulated that with the Lions getting Foster and Bell in the deal they may shy away from Thomas at number two and target Gaines, either pick him at 2 or try to trade back, as their pass rush is terrible and Marrinelli is a "tampa 2" coach and that system requires getting pressure on the QB mainly from the front 4. The top ten of the draft may end looking totally different from all the mocks if things shake out this way.

No dissrespect intended, but that seems like really far-fetched speculation.

Remember when everyone thought Bush or VY was a lock to Houston? This lock seems a lot less likely to me.

Randy, and TO are really the only wrs in the league with that kind of ability. Maybe Steve Smith too.

I think a lot of people are hoping that's what CJ brings to the table in the NFL, w/o the cancerous attitude.

I think this is probably an innaccurate rumor. First off, no owner or coach is going to commit to a prospect without having gone through interviews, workouts, etc. It makes no sense. If I was hiring a coach with that kind of demand, I'd think less of him as a coach. But more importantly, this dude is something like 32 years old? He's lucky to have a head coaching gig in the NFL - he's not really in a position to be making demands as though he has other job offers sitting there. It would be one thing if it was Parcells or Cowher or anyone with a lot of credibility, but not Lane Kiffin.

Wonder if Detroit would be interested in trading down? Carr/8th/other pick for second. Then we'd have our choice between Thomas and AP. (cue the they'd take Alan Branch comments)

It is Detroit, so who knows. Have to approach Millen like it was a Francis/Cato/mobes trade.

Former #1 overall pick Joey Harr- er, David Carr, + pro bowl wr(that is his position, damn it) Jerome Mathis, + 2 number 1 picks in Travis Johnson and Babin(who and what?) all for the low low price of 6 draft slots.

Adrian Peterson will help this team a lot more in the future than CJ IMO.

I think the Raiders are most likely going to get Russel at 1 and Joe Thomas goes at 2 and if we trade for 3 we will end up with either Calvin or Adrian.

we are not trading up. that was just some pipe dream.

smith said he wants to get a guy that can score from all points on the field...that would mean reciever or rb...ap and calvin will be gone. that leaves lynch or ginn jr. gin jr is at 8th..lynch would be a trade down scenario...they are definately trying to get the fans back. getting a fat slob OT at 8th isnt going to get the crowd buzzing....getting ginn jr, then kolb in 2nd will.

Just wanted to give this thread a shred of significance ... Bantering around on Mock Draft boards I found the following link ...

    http://www.gbnreport.com/2007projection.html

And for all those hungering for a gazillion different opinions on the draft check ou this site. It's the motherlode. :D

Man, if only this Clev/Hou trade could come true. Kill two birds with one stone. Carr is gone (we get better) and we get AP! (we get a lot better!). :D

We'll see how this pans out I suppose ...

I don't think anyone on this thread realizes how valuable of a trading piece David Carr is. Mike and Mike said this morning that David Carr is generally considered to be the most desirable quarterback that might change teams. They said that some GM's and coaches salivate at the possibility that he might be available. (Granted, Golic is an unabashed Carr apologist, but he acts like he's actually talked to people.) The idea is that many coaches still see a ton of potential in Carr. Regardless of the fact that I think this trade was completely made up, it's still a ridiculously bad trade. Other teams would be willing to give up picks or even a decent player to get Carr. There's no way the Texans give up a pick to get rid of him.

I don't think you realize how low the trade value of pricy veterans is in the NFL.

    It's low, very very low.

Carr isn't like other "pricey veterans". He's young, and he's still generally considered to have a ton of potential. It's not unlike the Rockets signing Stromile Swift after 5 years of no production just because the potential was still there.

Thank you for being intelligent ;)

The Texans need a RB. But jesus, if CJ is available...you have NO choice!! He's gonna tear this league up... no matter who's running the show.

And yeah, hatemavs...if your original post was based on random things you heard, then have you watched any of CJ's games? If not, you're missing out.. and you're making statements without knowledge. I think you'd change your mind..

I would take CJ over Andre Johnson right now. I have been talking him up since before last years draft. He is a better prospect than Bush or Young put together. He is the player that Bush was hyped to be last year. Once in a decade type player that every team in the NFL will wish they traded the farm for. He will still be playing in pro bowl games years after Peterson retires.
