ugh...I can NEVER root for the da Mavs...The spurs I don't mind (but I don't really root for) only b/c of Big shot Bob. If the Rox don't make it, I hope the Heat win it all b/c of my boy Zo. If they don't, I don't mind seeing the Suns win in the finals b/c at least they are entertaining to watch and Nash is amazing to watch.

I love my Rockets to death, but if they can't go I will be rooting for Duncan and the Spurs (similar to last year after we lost). Duncan is a stud....

And please stop with the 2.5 Spurs championships. If the Rockets won that year you wouldn't consider us to have 2.5.

    (ready to be flamed)

    hate the Mavs.

i don't like the Spurs. but I respect them. the Mavs whine like little girls. they are the Jazz of the 90's reinvented. can't root for them.

    plus...it's freaking Dallas.

I will go for the Suns, but I don't really care.

I don't want the Mavs though.

If the Rockets lose, you become a detached observer. Or mail your fancard back.

My team is out of it, so I'll root for a different team that's winning right now = hallmark bandwagon jumper.

    Worse than a fairweather fan.

A bandwagon fan is one who starts to root for a team and starts to "live" and "die" by each W and L as soon a team starts winning, especially championships. By rooting for another team when the rockets are out doesn't make you a bandwagon fan unless you start to declare that team as your favorite and begin to hate on the rockets and not support them anymore. When I say that I hope for the Heat to win, I don't lose sleep over it if they don't as I would if it were the Rox. I just want them to win b/c Zo is one of my favorite players ever and the playoffs are boring to watch if you don't have an interest in any of the teams.

Bandwagon fans = all the Asstros fans who came out of nowhere last year and began wearing the gear, displaying asstros memoribilia on their cars and at the office and home when they were not paying a lick of attention to them when they were waaaayy below .500.

i agree...but i'd be willing to bet there were a lot of bandwagon fans for the Rockets in 94-95 who are still true fans of the team today. sometimes winning builds ties to a team that you didn't have before...and those ties stick.

I may just have a different definition.

The point is, if you trade in your team when the postseason comes for a title contender, you're a crap fan. "Real" fans will take the beatings of bad seasons so they can stand tall when their team finally wins.

People like this thread starter, as far as I am concerned are like a husband that screws around on his wife whenever she's sick or having a bad day.
She's getting into another tiff with me? Fine, I'm heading to Jennifer's!

    Don't be a fanwhore.

well technically they don't have any championships since San Antonio isn't a real city.

    and it was written.

I don't "root for" any other team besides the Rockets. However, I will support the Clippers if the Rockets don't make the playoffs.

By no means am I a Clippers fan, but I like their team. They have two former Rockets in their backcourt, and I've always liked Elton Brand's game. Moreover, if the Clippers won the title, it'd be a giant "FYOU" to the entire Lakers organization...a team that I really don't like. ;)

So if I am a "real" Rockets fan, I can't like any players from any other team (i.e. Tim Duncan)? And if my Rockets can't make the playoffs, I can't want that other player that I like (i.e. Tim Duncan) to win, since my team can't?

    Ok.

Mavs could not and never will win a championship even if the whole city of Houston cheered for them.

As for letting go, I was at that game 7, and I will never be at peace till we return that favor. And as far as rooting for the Mavs, **** YOU

I will root for Dirk getting an MVP, once in the playoffs I'm rooting for the Clippers and Suns, Rockets will not make it.
