If the Rockets only get 1 all-star should it be Sengun or Jalen?

Ya you can troll op all you want but I don’t think it’s that crazy of a question. Sengun is our best player and I think as of now deserves an all star nod because of our record. The biggest issue is that idk if sengun is an all star game kind of player. He can have a flashy pass but that’s about it. I could see him being the target for multiple posters. Green is much more of a flashy dunk run and gun up the court jack up bad shots kind of all star player for better or worse. If sengun keeps up his mid performance and green has a January like march with maybe a 50 burger or something in there, I think the recency bias can get him over the edge. I think amen has a chance just because he is so fun to watch, if he makes the most of his starts and is a difference maker I can see coach’s voting for him.

The real question is how many legacy votes this year? Labron will start ad will be there jokic but will Durant get in on a losing team? who will rep clips? Harden, Powell, or even Leonard? Ha will be there probably jjj too. How many okc players sga + jdub I would guess but Harty too? They are the best team by far. I think it could come down to open spots and injuries with ant Luka kyrie ja sga jdub curry is there room for more? Who next on the guard list? Fox? Booker?

I think it is unlikely the green makes it but it would be nice. I think if he is an all star he would get more calls but the same could be said for sengun. Maybe we over perform in January and get two all stars? Or we just get screwed and have no allstars. As long as it’s not fvv or Dillion in the all star game I will be ok.

I mean for this season there is a 0% chance of Green making the all-star team. For one, West guard depth is ridiculous.

Sengun has a puncher's chance especially if a big like Jokic sits out and they need to find replacements.

 

Sengun - there are more Turkish fans voting than Fillipino, though FChow tries to represent as much of the Islands as he can.

Actually basketball is huge in the Philippines and they vote as well. But I think they just won't vote for someone because he's half Filipino.

Check out Yao Ming, Luis Scola, or Jeremy Lin etc.....there is massive nationality fandom, and there is nothing wrong with it.

While Filipino's think Clarkson doesn't really fit/isn't really helping their national team but instead hurting it with his ISO and hero brand of basketball. They probably see Jalen as just another Clarkson

 

I don't think that the Rockets have anyone deserving of being an all star - which speaks to how impressive their record is.

Sengun is the most deserving, but he doesn't deserve to go IMO.

The only player right now on the Rockets that has that "they may really break out" feel to them is Amen Thompson - who still has warts, but his improvement is noticeable, but even then it is not reflected as a massive improvement in the numbers.

This feels like those Grizzlies teams that had Conley and Gasol....... they win games but without a franchise player, they aren't real contenders.

Jalen isn't an all star - he isn't remotely close to being an all-star in 2025. Maybe that changes in 2026 - but right now he is closer to being a bench player than all star. Sengun isn't deserving of being an all star either, but he is at least in the conversation.......... honestly, if I had to pick one representative for the Rockets it would be Udoka or Amen Thompson..... Amen isn't an all star either, but he is at least elite defensively across the board.

I get your point but I don't think Jalen fits this mold. Yao and Scola were both born in their home countries, grew up there, and were already national heroes to some extent before they even made it to the NBA. Lin fits to a lesser degree since he was born in America but both his parents are Chinese (Taiwanese actually but we shouldn't get into that) and Lin can speak Mandarin. Lin also looks very Chinese and repped his nationality. Not sure this applies to Jalen.
