then i call out the ref and tell rockets to send the tape 'cuz there were no and1 on the play that Patterson got shoved in mid-air
What if Rockets lost last game by 1 point. Hello, newbie here, from Slovenia. I wonder what could happend if Rockets lost last game by point or in OT. As some of us noticed yesterday there was something wrong with result in 3rd Q. At 2:04 to go Bulls had the ball and with 1.4s remaining the refs blow the whistle and signaled for defensive 3 sec. Then they changed the call to something only they knew. Then Rocket had the Ball and right befor Goran scored the And1, score went from 62:64 Bulls to 62:66 Bulls. Then Gogi scored And1 for 65:66 and then they proceed the game with this result. If you go to PBP in NBA.com, there stands that Deng hit jump shot for 66:62. BUT he scored a bucket long after refs blow the whistle and gave ball to Rockets. And just a few seconds before Gogi scored the And1 they simply changed the score and gave 2 points to Deng. Your thoughts about this?
Interesting, I didn't even notice this. Good thing we still pulled it off despite bad officiating. Why would you even comment on this thread? He actually has a good point and it his first post, ever! Rep to you newbie, for a legitimate first post/thread. Shake the haters off.
Well, I expected something more insightfull. If you look in the game thread you will notice there was a discussion about this, but becouse Rockets won, nobody really cares obviously. But I wonder what could happened if our team lost.
What happened was they called a defensive 3 seconds on the Rockets, but almost at the same time as the whistle (according to the refs anyways), the Bulls hit a jumper. Instead of calling the 3 second violation and giving the Bulls a free throw, they went ahead and just counted the basket. That made the score go from 64-62 to 66-62. Immediately after that, Dragic had a 3 point play, which put it at 66-65. The contention is that our players stopped playing on defense when they heard the whistle, which is what allowed for the jump shot to be undefended. It's a lousy way to call a game in my book, but what can I say? The refs in the NBA have been nothing but lousy this entire season.
I wouldn't worry about the people who talk like teenage girls around here.. It would've been another terrible loss following the Indiana game. Luckily were still the 8th seed in a race that is neck and neck between the lower seeds.
I'm pretty sure the refs waved off the defensive 3 and awarded the basket, by saying the shot came before the def 3. We would probably have a bigger thread about this.
I think they waved off the defensive 3 by saying Deng's shot came before the def 3 call. Dragic's And1 scored.
I missed it too. However, there's no reason for someone to respond disrespectfully. Everyone was a noob on here at some point. All a fellow Rockets/Clutchfan needed to say was what CJLarson posted.
OK, I didn't replay. But the defensive 3 must have been waved off as inadvertent whistle; otherwise, there is out-of-bounds or technical foul. Since an inadvertent whistle is a stoppage of play "dead ball," with no continuation...you can't blow a whistle for Defensive 3 *and* allow continuation play. So, I suppose my attempt to make sense of why Deng's shot was awarded actually makes the refs call more questionable. so, I don't know what they called.
I stand corrected. I replayed it once more and payed attention only to ref at the top of the screen. He was the one who called def. 3 sec. and when shot from Deng went in, he changed call and left everyone in the building wondering what was the call.
On watching the replay again, do you think Deng was in the act of shooting at time of the defensive 3? If so, then I would say it is OK for the ref to wave off the def 3, as he just didn't realize Deng was shooting. The offensive player only has to be in the act of shooting to suspend the 3 second count.
