I'd watch it for the comedic value. Hell, I remember as a kid watching several games during the 14-win season and cheering for Allen Leavell. :(

The thing is... when most people here say they'll watch just as much and some even say they'll be more into it if there are high upside guys, but even in a city known for having loyal passionate fans like Sacramento, when the team really hit the tank the last couple of years, fans stopped showing up and the team is suffering financially, even though they have "high upside" guys picked at the top of the 1st round like Cousins and Evans.

During Rick Adelman's last season as a Kings coach, the 44 win team was 14th in attendance.... last year, they were 29th.

Maybe the folks here are more loyal and passionate than the average fan (though, one would imagine, so are fans who buy tickets instead of watch on TV), but that just doesn't bear out for the fanbase overall.

Can't dispute your point, but as long as we have a plan, I don't mind rebuilding.

40 games is bearable might as well tank, it will be the fastest, easiest not so painful season to waste.

I would agree, but I believe we don't have our pick anymore.

I'd still watch every game... on TV. Can't say I'd be shelling out for seats.

When we win 20 games next year, this will need to happen:

-Morey will need to be fired or need to quit

-Les will need to sell the team to somebody who's actually interested in winning

-Rocket fans stop going to games until the organization makes a commitment to winning and not just collecting assets

Attendance will depend heavily on how we play/who we play, if our team plays up-tempo exciting basketball I am sure attendance won't see a significant drop off.

If we had someone half as exciting as Griffin....

Dude, collecting assets leads to mediocrity and 40 win seasons, to win in the NBA you have to lose eventually.

You have to lose when your GM's unable to bring in key free agents.

I think it depends on how they become a horrible team. For example, if the new players consist of 8 year old boy scouts, catholic priests and Ricky Martin, then I believe overall consumption would increase.

(And just an observation here, but if the Rockets made Ricky # 12, they could just reuse K-Martin's jersey.)

We could win only 20 games, but if we have a Blake Griffin type player.. I'll be tuned into every game

Tankaroo for 3 straight years and see what Morey can do with very high draft picks. We need start talent, and since it they have shown little interest in making Houston their home, the draft maybe our only chance to be great.

At the same time, I don't think we are too far away from being a contender. However, the jump from here (good average team) to there (contender) might as well be an ocean away. Put it another way, pluck a guy like Dwight Howard and a starting s/f who can defende and score a bit, and you could legitimately see this team winning 52+ games.

BTW, The Rockets are my team and have been since my early 20's, so yes I would watch them.

It's hard laying down money every year to go watch them lose. I think I show up there to eat dinner. 8 dollar burgers, 6 dollar hotdogs. 4 dollar pretzels.. :(

I just bought Season tickets for the first time ever.

THAT is how much I love my team. It will feel 3X as great when we get back to contention.

I stream every game as I don't live in the US. I would still follow them from time to time, but if I won't go through as much effort to search for a good stream as I did before.

But realistically, I don't see how this team can somehow only win 20 games. Unless we trade Lowry and Martin for scrubs, or if they both get injured, there's no way in hell we can go to the lottery next year.

I only started developing an interest in Basketball four years ago. Before then, sports weren't of a particular interest to me. Most of my friends were NBA fans and they still are today, being Lakers supporters and in general Kobe fans. I watched a bit of basketball and became intrigued by the T-Mac and Yao combination. I'm not from the US so I had to identify myself with a basketball team and after watching for a while I found that mentally I was supporting and hoping that the Rockets would beat the other team.

I've become hooked to playing and watching recently even with the departure of T-Mac and the absence of Yao. I don't understand why people support the front runners such as the Lakers and Heat unless you have been a long time fan. Is it because they like to identify themselves as winners? The expectations are so high every year.

There's only one trophy and it's damn hard to win that trophy. I'll stick with this team when it's tough and endure the lows(not saying that it's a low now, but it is certainly mediocre), but when we become a contender and win that Championship again, it will be all the more sweet.

I'll be frank, the only thing that will turn me off from the Rox is a half-baked attempt at tanking. If we're going to tank, tank big time and with meaning. Develop our young players and go for the gold in the next draft. Don't even mess with extended minutes for our starters.

He's my rosterbation attempt at a "developing" lineup:

    Thabeet
    Pat Pat
    Squid
    Lee
    Dragon

    or our "big" lineup:

    Thabeet
    Hill
    Pat Pat
Lee (maybe Bud so we can see quicker players blow past him to setup a Thabeet monster swat. Yeah, juvenile...I know. You're lying if you wouldn't find that entertaining)
    Squid (or so he says)

A lineup only a Rox fan could love with crazy highs and lows to keep us entertained and glued. I'll be living off those 2-3 wins against young contending teams.

I'll still consider myself a Rockets fan, but I will consume less. I hate to see my favorite team lose game after game. It's heartbreaking.

I would still wish that they win every time they play, though.
