... the Denver Nuggets, Utah Jazz, San Antonio Spurs, Golden State Warriors and Dallas Mavericks would be suing the league for having to play significantly more road games than home games. For example, Denver has played 19 road games and only 9 so far at home -- and they're 8-1 at home. The Rockets, at 16 home and 10 away, probably are agreeable to starting now though. Let's allow the Rockets to pass a few more tests before we print playoff tickets.
I wonder how many tests did we let them fail before people wrote them off for a bottom 5 team? The San Antonio Spurs, Denver Nuggets, Utah Jazz etc. also have played together for more than 25 games and didn't just acquire their best player 2 days before the season opener. Props to Bima and a few others who thought we would be much better than many here thought.
On a side note: I'm back to my original home in Houston for the holidays. In Orange County, when you turn on the radio, all you hear is Lakers this and Lakers that. Here, it's Texans, Texans, Texans, and more Texans. Is there any radio station that mentions the Rockets?
1. Go straight to the finals without playing any series against WC teams. 2. Knicks beat Miami in ECF. 3. Championship!!!
I'm guessing about the same number of tests they passed for people to pick Marcus Morris as the franchise cornerstone and Omer Asik as DPOY of a top 5 defense. But since I didn't pick this team to be bottom 5, I wouldn't know.
To Clutch's point about schedule ... The Rockets would have to play exactly .600 ball for the rest of the year to maintain a 6th seed vs the West standings of last year. Rockets have a .538 winning %. That wouldn't have even made the playoffs last year. So, count on teams with significantly less home games played to catch us There is an easy way to track this ... Road Wins versus Home Losses is the simplest and best measure of a team's current position in the standings throughout the year. Rockets are 3-5. That is 10th Best in the West.
Thanks, I guess. Admittedly, I thought the team would be on the playoff bubble once again but unlikely to get in. Also, on a less happy note, we all see what you're doing here with your digs at Clutch. This isn't the first one, either. After the Harden trade, Clutch revised his estimates to put the Rockets as a mid- to late lottery team. How is that a ridiculous prediction? If Clutch pissed in your cornflakes, I'm sorry. But this passive aggressive crap should probably stop. I really like what you bring to the board. Please don't make me want to dislike you. Thanks!
The Rockets are an entertaining, competitive team. It's more than I expected but what I hoped for. The Rockets are an improving team imposing their will a lot (lately) and winning the 4th a lot (lately). The Rockets are positioned to be a legitimate factor in the foreseeable future. I feel good about the Rox. Still want more of the rooks. Dreamin' about a Lotto win because I am not yet believing the p/s's will occur THIS season. But next, and the run starts.
