David Anderson and Brad Newley played well for Australia. We could also go after Pat Mills, trade for Bogut and Then draft Ingles...just saying.

 Classic! It is good to be Daryl Morey; no matter what you do or don't do, you are a genius on this board. Must be nice.

That would be the best thing to happen to this franchise.

I'm fine with Plan B at this point.

All this shows - as Amare and Carmelo did before this - is that if you aren't one of the big market teams that other GMs and players will roll over for, you've got to do it with your homegrown talent. That's what San Antonio and OKC have done (and what the Rockets for their first ring). When the players are picking and choosing NY and LA and getting it - or when teams like Memphis and the Orlando are willingly helping the rich get richer, you've got to do it another way.

Time to see what the draft has really brought us.

Part of me thinks Morey leaked all these trades rumors about what he was willing to give up (but it was never true), just so when the real trade happens for less he can go back to Les and say exactly what you wrote.

    Lin / Douglas
    Martin / Lamb
    Parsons / T Jones
    Patterson / DMo / White
    Asik / Johnson

I'm good with that. Assuming both us and Toronto are bottom 10 teams, we will have 2 top 10 picks next year plus a load of talent to trade up for a superstar if we find one, while still keeping most of our young guns.

Isn't this what almost all of us wanted?

Can the Rockets still have those non-guaranteed contracts?

    Non-guaranteed Contracts
    Kmart
    Dallas 1st

    for

    Zack Randolf
    Rudy Gay

    Or

    Non-Guaranteed contracts or Kmart
    Dallas 1st

    for

    Granger

Not a comment on Morey but jeez...only 1 of those guys is not either in NY or LA. "The NBA where 'f**k the rest of the league' happens"

Does anyone think that Daryl Morey traded away all the stars on this team so that HE himself could be the face of the rockets franchise? Conspiracy theory but some conspiracies are true

Now that Howard is finally moving, we'll probably see a few more dominoes fall around the league in the next couple of weeks. It wouldn't be shocking to see Kevin Martin get moved now. My guess is that he'll be traded for a bad contract coupled with either draft picks or a good young vet. But, I also understand the argument to wait for the trade deadline and see if another star player shakes loose.

But, in general, I think Plan B is pretty clear now. While I'm sure Morey will always be looking for a trade for a franchise player and he'll always be handing out iPads to top free agents, we'll be rebuilding through the draft in the meantime. We've got a ****load of rookie-contracts and draft picks now, and we're going to be very bad this coming season.

Whatever plan B is, we'll still call Morey a genius.

I don't believe that there is a plan B. The plan, apparently, is to acquire young talents while keeping fiscally flexible and be opportunistic at chances at franchise players as they arise. It just so happened to be DH at this particular junction. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if we made some kind of push for CP3 and/or Bynum when they become available.

I'm glad we actually took the 1st step in moving in the right direction by getting rid of a majority of our vet players thereby getting off the mediocrity treadmill. My bigger concern is that we seem to have a knack for finding overachievers. While that sounds good on the surface, we also lessen our chances at acquiring a true franchise player through the draft. Also, I've come to the sad conclusion that the we may never acquire a franchise player through free agency just because we don't have one of our own to match the trend. Chicken and the egg and all that jazz.

I hate to say it but maybe it's in our best interest to truly tank just as the Rich Cho suggested to Jordan when he was hired. We'll be lotto team next season but I just don't see us sucking so badly with our current line up. We have high character personnel that'll play to their abilities and that's infectious. I can't believe that I'm criticizing the Rox for rebuilding the honest way but, I see no better way out of our predicament, at least for now, than to buy into the tried and true system of suck (bad enough) and luck (into a high lotto pick).

hey, at least he's trying to do something big, or pretending to try.

As a Pacers fan, I just went through basically the same multi-year situation of mediocrity of an aging roster, and there wasn't even a pretense that we may do something big.
"No, we are letting contracts expire, we are developing our mid-first prospects, we'll maybe then add someone in the draft."
That's no fun. It's much cooler to be a Rockets fan. You win some games, there's excitement, there's hope, and you feel like your FO is out-thinking/outworking everyone all the time.
Other than being LA etc, that's pretty fun considering you've been a mediocre rebuilding project with no real super assets for several years.

Yup. Has to be a full-fledged tank. The idea that the Rockets could get a CP3 or Bynum at a $30 million discount isn't going to happen - we can't even attract these guys with a premium! Cap room is nice, but it'll only get you the Lin/Asik tier... it's not going to be enough for the elites.

The next "move", I hope, is moving KMart for pennies on the dollar. Blatantly tanking is the only way, and the Rockets aren't bad enough, yet.

no... and "still"? come on. I don't about the Grizzlies, but the pacers would never trade Granger for KMart+late 1st.
