History is what people remember you for and history is about knowledge
which you obviously don't have about the organization.

    First of all,
Dawson didn't become GM til 1996.

    http://www.nba.com/rockets/news/Dawson_set_to_end_a_27year_ru-221038-34.html
With the blessing of Rockets owner Leslie Alexander, Dawson became the Rockets' general manager in 1996.

Dear rookies and newbs, please get your facts straight. Also let me tell you that 'Akeem' made the NBA finals in 1986.
Also, rookies and newbs, please stop mentioning Michael Jordan and belittling Ralph Sampson, please shut your mouths if you NEVER saw EITHER of them play.

    thank you,

Rocket fans who know facts and watched the games

To further on that point, IF Lucas hadnt been suspended, the 86 Rockets would have taken out the Celtics for the title that year.

And who knows form there.....that whole Celtics v. Lakers rivalry would have been missing a few chapters, and the Lakers would be missing a banner (from 1987). Magic Johnson's famed "junior sky hook" shot in Game 4would have never happened......maybe replaced by a sky hook by Dream. And just maybe, the Bad Boy Piston teams never win a title either.....

One can only wonder what memories the "Lost Dyansty" could have created for Houston Sports fans. All I know is that if "this" had happened, this town would be a Rockets town, not an Oilers town.....

From what I have seen (from highlights), those Rockets teams were BEASTLY. My question is would the Rockets have done anything in 93-94 and 94-95, in case you guys don't remember after those 2 rings, Hakeem didn't have the same fire in his eyes. It is very possible if he won 4 rings in the 80s or even 2 or 3, he may have not cared so much and the Rockets may be on a 25 year drought rather than an almost 15 year one.

The offer was in fact: #2 Pick + Clyde, and the Rockets IF they made the trade were gonna trade Hakeem and keep Sampson.

In fact Rockets drafted Hakeem to trade him to Portland.

Sampson, Glyde, Jordan OR Hakeem, Glyde, Jordan, either one could have been a dynasty imo (even with Sampson's knees getting messed up, getting Glyde and Jordan on a team while young... scary)

If Len Bias didn't die from drugs would he be better than Michael Jordan or Hakeem Olajuwon?

This reminds me of the article "Jordan or no Jordan, Hakeem was great"

What the hell does Jordan have with Hakeem succes and again what if Ralph Sampson didn't broke his knee... what if...?

Dude, stop trying so hard. Either you have something to contribute to a thread or you don't.

Forgot to hit send so my reponse didnt go through last night. But this says what I was gonna say.
Lakers were really THE only team in the West at that time that you had to beat on the way to the finals. No one was 2nd in the 80's except the Rockets.

Early 90's Portland emerged. Most of the '86 Rockets team wouldnt have made it that far. The key to staying in contention would have been keeping a healthy Ralph. But that would have been about as solid a nucleus to build around as you can get. So I see the Rockets being at LEAST as good as that Portland team.

I think it's safe to say the more rings he had the greater his legacy would be.

It's two more than Karl Malone, John Stockton, Patrick Ewing, and Charles Barkley combined.

Add Dirk Nowitzki, Steve Nash, David Robinson :D (who some say was the greatest center of the last 25 years) and Kobe as a team's primary go to option.

Every player I just named as one just as many or more MVPs than Dream, but outside of Kobe, neither of them have anything else to show for it.

No, I meant he became a calmer after he turned to religion...He was frustrated with management because he lost a lot of the players that made that team successful.
