Chris Paul should be 2nd... 3rd. Deron Williams (trading to the Nets, will drop his assists a bit, I guess) 4th. Rajon Rondo (Great passes, shows true heart in his team) (tied) 5th. Russell Westbrook (Young player and teamed up with KD, Ibaka, Perkins etc) - Steve Nash (Getting old, but can still make plays) - Jason Kidd (His prime time was the best I have seen)
the mvp for all intents and purposes is a reward for the clear cut team leader of the team with the best record.
Chris Paul is both a better player and a PG than Derrick Rose. He's still by far and ahead of any other PG's in the league and is a top 5 player.
Rule changes which stopped perimeter hands from holding players, has caused this. There is no one definition of what a PG is or isn't....what a PG is or isn't is defined by the needs of the current team. DRose is amazing.....so is CP3, and DWill, etc..etc..etc.. DD
Those of you that said Rose isn't the best PG in the league right now is delusional. Rose can get his teammates involve, he can score, get to the rim with relentless force, and is still growing. Rose is probably the only PG in the NBA that can take over games at will. Sure Paul, Nash and Rondo are better passers, Rose's ability to get to the rim and score at will puts him over the top. Plus he is a good passer also. That's why his team has the best record in the league.
His team has the best record in the league because his team plays great, almost one of the all-time best, defense. Rose contributes nothing on that end of the court. They are an average team offensively. The current Bulls is closer to the defense-led championship Pistons in 2004 than the Jordan-led Bulls of the 90s.
