wanted to come in, be named President of football operations, and hire his own GM and his own coach.... do you do it?
Can't say I'd be for it that quickly. His success rate in the past decade isn't that great. It's not like the cowboys or Dolphins have even really been Super Bowl contenders. His personnel choices have been questionable and his teams mediocre. He's a hall of fame coach but I think the game maybe has passed him by.
I'm not sure Parcells is an upgrade over Kubiak, honestly, given his recent track record. He seems to turn quick corners only to level out well short of expectations. He took over a Cowboy team that had posted three consecutive 5-11 seasons and finished 10-6 and in the playoffs his first year. But they then went 6-10, 9-7, 9-7. Overall, he was 34-32 with no playoff victories in Dallas. In Miami, he took over a 1-15 team and turned them into 11-5 the next season. But they then dropped back to 7-9. This year, they're 4-4. Again, one playoff appearance, no victories. He would command *a lot* of money - but he feels to me like a once-great slugger in his mid-30s looking for someone to hand him a big contract more for what he's done as opposed to what he'll do. Unfortunately, he's not dealing with Drayton because that is RIGHT up his alley.
If Parcells was still with the Cowgirls, they'd be 7-1 rather than the other way around. Does that answer your question?
The problem he's faced is the same problem most teams face that the Texans luckily don't have: finding a good QB.
You are interested in keeping Kubiak if he goes 8-8 again, and maybe even if he goes 7-9? Why are the standards here so much lower than the rest of the country?
huh? so if Kubes goes .500 for the rest of the season and continues on the path to mediocrity, you wouldnt do this or you wouldnt do anything?
Not saying I wouldn't make a change, it just wouldn't be Parcells. The question posed is Parcels vs. Kubiak, not Kubiak vs. the Field.
Of course, in a heartbeat...The Dolphins were in the playoffs and won the AFC East title in 2008 with the team he assembled...
I disagree. His personality seems to be one that lends to someone who can't stay in one place for too long. At some point, the verbal beatdowns just don't get though. They might not be 1-7, but they'd still be mediocre at best.
why not? kubiak seems to have control of the gm, which means he's basically a puppet. at least with the rocket you dont have to worry about RA telling Morey what to do.
