I would have been very upset if we had ended up with Lebron because I would be forced to cheer for him. Also, if other teams fans said we had a manufactured team I would agree with them but that wouldn't stop me from cheering for the Rockets. If somebody in your family does something wrong you don't stop loving them but that doesn't mean you have to be proud of what they did and act like they did nothing wrong.

I wouldn't stop being a Rockets fan but I would feel my rings would be diminished. Simple as that.

I would happy with Bosh and his 2 crafty sidekicks. Would be really embarrassed if it was done through a "decision" though.

This would be the only scenario where I would be cheering LerBon.

My loyalty has been proven beyond question since the championship years and anyone who has hung in here since Les took over is with me. How many playoffs have we been to since 95? How many times past the first round? With all the goofy drafts, trades, and contracts I am a fan of any new talent regardless of who it is. Even the ole Jailblazers would be popular here. They would be jerks but they would be OUR jerks.

Not only would I still be a fan - but I'm honest enough to admit that though I have heavily criticized Lebron for "The Decision", if he did the same thing and came to the Rockets I bet I'd have come up with dozens of ways to defend that circus by now! Hypocritical? Sure. But I hated Barkley with a passion too - right up until the Rockets pulled off the blockbuster to acquire him. And while I had always found all of his media bravado to be obnoxious - miraculously, as soon as he was a Rocket it was charming to me! Hell, I'd have probably rooted for Stockton and Malone if they got traded to the Rockets. Okay. Maybe that's too far.

Of course I wouldn't quit cheering for the Rockets. BUT I'll tell you that I died a tiny bit when we made the trade for Barkley and made a "big three," who then made a big number two, while Sam I Am and Big Shot Bob had about a decade left for each of them.

When we had a big three (geriatric version), it felt kind of fake, contrived. I still cheered for them, even in those hideous pajamas they wore, but it was nothing like the 1994 championship team, where I watched a lot of those guys slowly get better and better and watched Rudy's system really start to flourish around Hakeem.

So, I would still be a Rockets fan, but it would not be at the normal enthused level. I guess that's kind of weird but there it is. It's always harder to get really fired up about an overdog.

Wouldn't playing in the finals get you enthused again?
Also I remember when this trade when down, and injuries really damped the affect of the big 3.

There's no real reason to hate the Heat. It's actually nice to see guys control their own future. Having said that, it's fun to root against the Heat. They are the NY Yankees of the NBA, they will have lots of hate but tons of bandwagon jumpers as well.

So........no I wasn't even aware of Anderson's existence back then.

The way he left Cleveland also put a hefty sum of money into charity.

How much did you donate this year?

Just remember that Morey used his "advanced stats" to tell Bosh that him, LBJ, and D-Wade and bunch of role players would be a mediocre team.

The big 3 on the heat are all good, clean-cut guys. None of them have been in any real trouble with the law. Guns, violence, thuggishness, DWIs, strip incidents. Nothing. It would be an honor to have any of them on the Rockets and Morey would be called a God amongst men around here and most of these guys in houston would be wearing lebron/wade jerseys. This city would be nuts right now.

Chalmers, Haslem, Jones, Anthony, Miller, etc are all NBA caliber players. Some of them may have gotten their start in the D-League......but they are superior to most D-League players imho.

I really hate it when people make polls that leave no wiggling room. Where's the middle ground?

For me personally, I would still be a Rockets fan, simply because I have rooted for the team for 20 years and will always root for anything Houston.

    BUT

    1. I would not feel nearly as great if and when we win than the 2 championship years, because it seems less about the Heart of a Champion and more about just trying to take the easy road. Similar to rooting for Mr. Burns' power plant softball team(minus the fun jokes).

    2. I would feel like I have to share my fandom with Lebron/Wade fans, which make it seem like the team is somewhat not just for "Rockets fans" anymore. Similar to the Yao phenomenon, but more annoying due to reason #3.

    3. If Morey had DRAFTED Lebron and Wade, then I would have no issues. If Morey had convinced Lebron and Wade to join because we have a very good nucleus, then I'd be a bit annoyed but ultimately won't care. But if all Morey did was clear cap to accomadate Lebron, Wade, and Bosh, it seems more like they're using the Rockets for its capspace more than actually wanting to come.

    4. I know some of my statements are illogical, especially for a fan whose team hasn't done jack squat in 13 years. But I feel it's just not nearly satisfying when something is handed to you on a silver platter.

Yea right, this site would love those guys. As any fan of a team that got them would. Still don't want to see a Heat dynasty though.

I would be absolutely ecstatic. Truth is, I envy (original) Heat fans. That's not exactly the way I would like to have a team built, but doggone it they did what they had to do to be successful.
