If Clinton is the Democrat Nominee I'm voting Republican

I'd be undecided on Obama/McCain until they're actually running against each other, debating, etc.

This thread is kind of back-asswards.

McCain will pull in more Democrats and Independents than any other Republican candidate.

He might drive away some conservative Republicans, but Hillary will drive them right back to McCain. :D

Yeah pretty much. I dont think the Republicans have a really great candidate this year, but looks like the Dems are passing up on Obama for some reason.

This is the biggest media myth ever propagated. The second its official all we're gonna hear until November is keating 5 keating 5 keating 5.

The media is going to turn on him so fast it would be hilarious if it wasn't so pathetic.

Libs will never vote against the democratic party. McCain may win some independents but it won't matter. He's gonna lose by at least 10 points.

The man is like Bob Dole without any of his virtues.

McCain is far more electable than either Dole or Kemp. Not even close.

Not after the media turns on him. Just watch.

And even IF he was electable who cares if you have to sacrifice your party's soul to do it. Then there really would be very little difference between the two party's even ideologically and not just in practice.

Amnesty means 30 years of Democrat domination. Period. Then we'll see where all your gun rights and national security go then.

Better a Rhino who pays lip service to conservative values than a mega Rhino who hardly even tries anymore.

Negative. Clinton's lead in the polls did not change appreciably when Perot reentered the 1992 race. Subsequent analysis showed that while a slim majority of Perot voters would have gone for Bush, he also drew almost equally from voters disposed to Clinton. So, Perot voters were fairly evenly split between the two candidates and Bush's small advantage would not have been significant enough to elevate him above Clinton. Perot also drew a number of voters who would not have voted at all.

Edit: What Perot did do was keep Clinton under 50%

    I have an idea.

Let say McCain picks Ron Paul as his running mate. If McCain wins... and dies 1 year later (natural cause).

OMG RON PAUL 4 PREZ :D

But Jack Kemp might be his running mate ;)

McCain has referenced he doesn’t know much about something that rhymes with “Konomee” that people are asking about on the campaign trail, but that he is friends with other folks like Jack Kemp who do know something about it.

I will say this, John McCain has a much better chance to beat Hillary than Romney or Huckabee would have. That said I think it is much easier to be a Maverick than a front runner and look presidential—I am not sure if McCain’s favorability will hold up when he is on the stage over and over and over.

I personally am rather mixed about McCain. I do think A-3PO nailed it...it will largely be a stagnant government if he wins. He will have zero chance of pushing through various foreign policy and domestic hawkish stances/policies/programs of his through a Dem congress. Dems won't agree to authorize more wars, or provide bills for more military spending, nor cutting domestic programs that he might want. Also, virtually any Dem package that increases domestic spending or expands/modifies expenditures including health care reform/expansion will be vetoed with little chance of an override (McCain is one of the most hawkish and idealistic in the senate on cutting domestic spending). Maybe a McCain presidency will put through a comprehensive immigration bill, a very modest environmental bill and/or and ethics/campaign finance bill will support from most Dems--that is about all I could see.
