If Martin gets injured this season, should we trade him?

Last time I checked, basketball is a contact sport. Anyone can get injured anytime, even those with no history of injuries. Lebron got his elbow sprain (?) in the playoffs. Andrew Bogut missed the playoffs because he got injured towards the end of the regular season. Chris Bosh's injury caused Toronto to drop out totally from the Eastern playoffs.

So we pray or knock on wood that none of our players get significant injuries next year. Martin does not have a history of chronic injuries, which means his injuries do not lead him to miss too many games. The one year he sprained his ankle, I read somewhere it was misdiagnosed or he came back too soon and he reinjured it again, so he missed a lot of games. That is similar to what happened to Kyle Lowry last season when he injured an ankle then his knee when he came back too soon.

Anyway with our injury history, we built a deep line-up designed to enable us to weather injuries. Martin goes down, Courtney is used to a starter role. Then CB and JT can back him up at 2 and JJ/PP can slide over to the 3 to back up Shane.

Whatever you are worrying about, DM and RA have already made contingency plans about it.

    Para,

No offense, but every player is injury prone, the NBA is hard on bodies...and they all get knicked up, very few last entire seasons.

Martin is no more injury prone than most....he broke his wrist last year....

I would only consider a player injury prone if it is a recurring injury like Yao, otherwise it is just bad luck.

I expect him to be fine this season.

As scrawny as Martin is, yeah I think it's safe to say (imo) that he's more injury prone than others.

How did George Gervin do? Just because he is not big doesn't make him more susceptible to injuries.

You don't have to be a mound of muscle to stay healthy.

Please. If he gets injured, how exactly are we going to get anything in return for him?

But the past has proven he hasn't been healthy.

    Injury prone?

    He has ZERO Chronic injuries.

    No bad Knees, back, shoulder...NOTHING!!!

He twist his ankle and tweaks his wrist. Some can play through that but Kevin can't. It doesn't mean he's injury prone. More like he's a slow healer.

Martin's trade value will go right out the window if he gets hurt again.

The statistics show that Martin will be injured this year. That doesn't need to be necessarily true but at this moment that's what the statistics show.

When they're negotiating new deals, do you honestly think that teams don't bring up a player's injury history?

Injury-prone means you're prone to injury, now that it's reoccurring. Every person and their body is different -- bringing up Gervin is pointless.

People are killing the OP but he's right -- Martin's injury history is the reason I was hoping we would have traded for Iguodala instead.

Yeah, it sure cost Amar'e tons of money because of this "injury stat". ;)

New York was in a difficult situation, they didn't get Wade or Lebron so they had to settle for Amar'e.

    GMs know.

Agents know, but they don't care b/c it's their client.

and yes, there is a statistic for injuries -> it's called games missed
