that makes no difference to me. If the mentality of the HEAD COACH is to be a p***y, that is gonna show up on the team, which is clearly the case with Kubiak.

I'd only go this route if the Texans also get someone new to the front office like Mike Holmgrem in Cleveland. Then again, Mangini also has Rob Ryan.

None of those veteran coordinators work for a weak minded fool like Kubiak.

Coincidentally (or not), all of them were failures as head coaches, and I look forward to the day that Kubiak rejoins the ranks of veteran coordinators.

Does bringing in a strong minded DC in essence make Kubiak a lame duck HC? It will almost be like a Phillips/Garret scenario, and Kubiak surely won't be able to make his own decisions on draft day without running it by the DC.

Of course it would make him a lame duck, even though Ric won't say it. That has to be part of the rationale for doing it. If McNair repeats the mistake of bringing Kubiak back, there ain't no way he will last the season if things go south early enough. The explosion of disgust from the fan base would assure that.

Ric's recommended moves would effectively emasculate Kubiak into being what he's really fit to be: an offensive coordinator. Let's hope the Broncos will take him off the Texans' hands so they can move on one year late instead of two.

No. If the DC successfully rebuilds the defense, and assuming the offense doesn't fall off a cliff and can straighten out its issues, then the team will 10+ games and all will be well.

    In theory.

If the DC comes here and nothing improves, my guess is they all get wiped out.

Who are you guys kidding...regardless of the head coach, all of you will be right back here Week 1 discussing why we should win the game that week.

Having said that, if Kubiak is around, then ****.

Babin never wanted to play OLB, one of his chief complaints is that when they finally moved to a 4-3 under Kubiak that he never got a chance to play his natural DE position - four point stance and Hulk Hogan posing and all  beat it, Babin. I hope you get cut-blocked to hell next year for you bush league antics.

Rod Marinelli was a guy the Texans were looking to bring in back in 2009. Unfortunately, since we already had our eye on a guy who would battle as our defensive coordinator, the position we offered Rod was DL coach and he rightfully turned that down for a better offer/position with Da Bears.

Looking forward to what Marvin Lewis or Mike Zimmer do for this defense next year!

Out of Bob McNair, Gary Kubiak, and Rick Smith, 2 out of those 3 NEED to be gone for this franchise to progress. I don't necessarily care WHICH 2 go, so I'll let Bob McNair decide that.
