It's actually pretty simple. Magic had 5 rings and 3 FMVP as a laker. Kobe will have 5 and 2 if he wins it all this year. That puts him 2nd best Laker of all time.

After that, one more FMVP will make him surpass Magic.

Really? How about Wilt Chamberlain who scored 100 pts in a single game and had like a 50 pt average? Or how about Kareem and Shaq? All three of these guys were better players in their prime than Kobe is.

Having more rings doesn't automatically make you the better player. Its funny you're making the ring argument now however when you made that ridiculous "Kobe is the greatest if he wins" thread, Kobe with his 5th ring will still have 1 less than MJ.

    magic.

kobe needs to win 2 more rings with this team for him to be considered in the discussion with magic.

sorry if you guys don't remember but that guy was insane. it's too bad hiv took away 5 years from his career.

How many finals series did Jordan lose? 0? How many has Kobe lost? 2?

If Kobe loses another finals, he'll never be in the conversation of Jordan. As is, he's lucky to be considered.

LOL, why don't you list the stats against Spurs? Spurs had the best regular season record, and obviously a better team than 76ers.

    LOL why ignore the finals.

i mean it is the NBA FINALS right?

dont you hate on lebron for poor finals performance despite him having a great performance in the western conference finals but kobe gets a pass fo a subpar final performance because he had a good performance in the WCF?

    kobe stan double standard.

How did the Spurs obviously have a better team than Philly? The Spurs team that LA faced didn't even have their starting SG for the entire series. I think missing your 2nd leading scorer is kinda important, right, especially when he plays the same spot as Kobe. The Spurs, with Anderson, finished a whopping 2 games ahead of Philly that year. Please enlighten us as to how the Spurs without Anderson were a better squad than the Sixers?

Kobe is the closest I have seen to Jordan. The shots this guy makes is unbelieveable. He closed out Phoenix alone. Everytime to pull up to take a shot the Phoenix crowd moaned.

Now, there is only 1 Laker I don't see him better than. Majic. As stated previously, Majic played, guard, forward, and center... Dominated a Sixer's team with Dr. J. and Moses Malone. Kobe can guard the pg, sg, and sf and has trouble guarding physical SF, see Paul Pierce.

In their prime, Majic's height (just like Durant's) would give Kobe trouble.

    Greatest of all Time:
    Oscar
    Jordan
    Majic
    Bird
    Kobe
    Kareem
    Dream
    Wilt
    Russell
    West

Wilt didn't do any of that in LA. The only reason why I put Shaq behind Kobe is because he wasn't always a Laker... though he was very successful as one. Kareem > Shaq. In his prime, Shaq is a better player than Kobe, but I just can't put Shaq ahead of Kobe who has been a Laker his whole career. Kareem and Magic were the two best though, I just don't see how Kobe is a better Laker than both of them... individually by stats or achievements (at least for now).

What double standard? Kobe didn't always have great finals, but he did have great finals like 2002. What great finals did LeBron have?

The guy won one series over 50+ wins team in his career and you are putting him in the same sentence as Kobe?

Kobe had to win 3 series over 50 wins team just to show up in finals alone.

did lebron ever have a 21-30 point 13-15 rebound center?

i dont even want to turn this into lebon vs. kobe but its hilarious that kobe has a poor finals performance with a better a teammate than lebron has ever had yet praise him for a good conference finals performance yet bash lebron for a poor finals performance while ignoring him having a great conference finals performance.

    double standard

When Kobe was winning it all last year, Gasol was 19/9, Shaq was 18/8 just last year and Jamison 20/10.
LeBron just couldn't make teammates around him better because he's a ballhog. What player wasn't forced into 3pts shooter or defensive post player once they played along LeBron?

And what great conference finals series? Pistons were a 53 wins team that year, that put them at Jazz level who won 52 games that year.

Let me say this again, Kobe had to win 3 series of that quality alone just to get into finals for last 3 years.

pau was 18 (58%)/10.3 last year in the playoffs.

shaq was 15.2 (44%)/9.2 in the playoffs in his last season with the suns and was progressive getting worse before coming to the cavs.

    shaq's playoff regression

    05-06

    18(61%)/9.8

    06-07

    18.8(56%)/8.5

    07-08

    15(44%)/9.2

jamison averaged 40 minutes per game his last yea with the wizards in the playoffs and averaged 34 minutes with the cavs.

lebron is not in chargeo of who gets minutes.

    isnt that a coaching decision?

the players do what the coaches demand.

look at wade in the riley ea. he played more off the ball like a natural 2-guard then spolstra had him runnning the point and becoming the main distributor and nucleaus for their offense.

not lebron's fault mike brown did not know how to run a fluid offensive system just like it wasn't wade's fault that spolstra did not know how to run a fluid offensive system.

Wow, never heard someone call Lebron a ballhog before... He is so far from a ballhog it is ridiculous. His true assist rating blows Kobe completely out of the water...
