Of those 10 championships, how many finals mvps does he have?

And he'll match Jordan's championship accolades, but he wont match Jordan's MVP's, scoring titles, or defensive accolades.

You said that since Pippen was part of all of the Bulls' championship teams, Jordan never won anything without Pippen. And you used that to discount Jordan's greatness.

By that same logic, Fisher was part of all of Kobe's championships teams. So Kobe never won anything without Fisher.

IF you're an old as you claim why the hell are saying Kobe is the GOAT if he wins his 5th ring this year?

I doubt very few people even if they are Kobe fanboys will say that if Kobe wins his 5th ring this year he'd automatically be better than the dude who 2 3three peats, a ton of finals mvps and has the highest PER in playoff history

Even this angle, which seems to be your last ray of hope, doesn't hold much weight. This angle doesn't even set Kobe apart from Duncan and Shaq.

Duncan had completely new teammates on his first title team and his last one. 100% roster overhaul. And he was the main option on each title team, unlike Kobe.

    http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/SAS/2007.html

Shaq won a ring with a completely new team in Miami. Yes, I know he wasn't the main option on that team, but Kobe wasn't the main option on either of the 3-peat teams even though you try to count those 3 rings in that manner.

Bill Russell won his first title in 56/57. He won his last one in 68/69, where he was the head coach. None of the teammates from those two teams were the same. NOT ONE!!! And since he has way more rings than Kobe, how can Kobe be the GOAT over him?

    http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/BOS/1957.html

    http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/BOS/1969.html

Even Magic had a completely different team from his first title to his last. Kareem was on both squads, but he went down in the first title run. Not to mention he led another team to the Finals after Kareem retired.

    http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/LAL/1988.html

You can say the same about Bird's first and last title teams. Parish was a constant similar to Fisher, and McHale was only getting 20 mpg on the first title team.

    http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/BOS/1981.html

    http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/BOS/1986.html

Hakeem didn't win in 86, but he led that team to the Finals and then led a completely new group of players to the title in 94. Actually, I consider the 95 team a completely new team as well. The core was mostly the same but the entire style/makeup of the team was different post the Drexler trade.

    http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/HOU/1986.html

    http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/HOU/1994.html

Moses Malone led two different clubs to the Finals in a 3 year span, and the Rockets team that he took in 81 wasn't that great (they had a losing record).

    http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/PHI/1983.html

Please stop because none of your arguments hold any merit. Kobe has done nothing that no other player hasn't done before. Nothing....you can't name one thing. Another poster already noted this, but in every category that you can list for GOAT status, Kobe isn't the leader in any of them.

There's honestly no reason this thread needs to be this long. Every point rock4ever has made has been dismantled, but he keeps arguing the same thing over and over again.

I'm 33 years old, and someone my age wouldn't post something like Kobe being the GOAT. Im not emotionally attached to MJ. I'm emotionally attached to reality. Kobe has peaked, had his prime, and is now in decline. He is still a hall of fame player, but he is not getting better. Jordan got better in his 30's. Kobe isn't even the best player in the league right now. I give Kobe top 10 all time, and maybe top 3 all time "scorer". But all around player on and off the court. Greatest "Complete" player of all time? That's Jordan.

I'm sorry for "hating" on Kobe by saying that he will never be as good as Jordan, but you asked how is he NOT the greatest, and that's my $.02 of an answer.

If Kobe retires with 10 rings and has at least 6 Finals MVP's which he will need to win at least 1 past the age of 35 (Jordan won 2 past that age), I will concede that he is the GOAT.

If Kobe wins 5 more titles, accompanied by Finals MVP trophies, wins Defensive POY, MVP, and scoring title in the same year, withs League MVP, All Star MVP, and Finals MVP in the same year, gets a triple double in the all-star game, and boosts his career average to over 30 ppg, I will concede that he is "Equal" to Jordan.

Um, no Kobe won't be the greatest.

He has Never Led the League in Win Shares nor PER. Just for reference, MJ, Wilt and Kareem led the league in Win Shares 9x each and PER at least 7x each.

Not to mention that Gasol led the Lakers in both PER and Win Shares this season in both the playoffs and regular season.

LBJ is clearly a better individual player than Kobe. DWade is close, and Durant is rapidly approaching. To me the single biggest difference between Jordan and Kobe or even LBJ and Kobe is Kobe's strength at the rim. Kobe takes A LOT of free throws. This is misleading. It would appear in the box score that Kobe was aggressive and couldn't be stopped. The reason he takes so many more free throws is because he is not strong enough to finish at the rim with contact.

LBJ and Jordan would go through you, over you, or around you to finish and get to the line for "1". Most of the time kobe gets to the line its for two. A lot of times he isn't even strong enough to get a quality shot off.

He is still better than 99% of the players in the league, and i don't think he raped anyone. But he isn't the "best" player in the game today. Maybe the best shooting guard in the game today. Two years ago, he was head and shouldres above the rest. But his prime only lasted a couple of years, while Jordan's lasted a decade.
