If Kobe gets his ring this year, how is he not the GREATEST?

Deep? As in game 6 of the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals.

    Ooooh.

Pippen was a great player. Jordan made that team. I think the main reason he's hating on Pippen is because of how he tanked it in Houston.

Y'all have to realize Pippen was never the same after the injuries. He had a pretty short prime.

You know Shaq won a ring WITHOUT Kobe there. You also know Kobe hadnt won anything after Shaq left until Gasol got traded to them.

The Spurs, Pistons, Heat and the Celitcs should have an * next to their championships. Kobe just didn't feel like winning those six years. Or was it the absence of a dominant
big man most of the time? Hmmm.....

I think the problem here with younger posters here is that they never saw Jordan play. I mean YouTube highlights are not the same as watching a game in full context. People under 21 here see the highlights and think to themselves, I saw Kobe make that same shot so he must be as good as Jordan.

But the rest of us that watched games, full games in context know the truth. We saw a man just break the will of hall of fame caliber players and competitors. We saw coaches like Paul Westfall in the Finals tell the media he had no answer for Jordan and didn't know what to do. We saw a player DOMINATE both ends of the floor. Like Shane Battier, a lot of things he did didn't make sportscenter. But also like Shane, if you were watching the game you were like WOW he is the man! It was literally like LOL! They can't stop him. They can't score on him! They give up!

Look at the Portland series. Remember Cliff Robinson's face when Jordan kept hitting threes? The one when Jordan just looked at him and shook his head? He looked so defeated. A grown man with a broken will to compete. That was Jordan. That was the GOAT.

I can only assume that this argument is based on highlight reels because it is clearly not based on stats and accomplishments. Therefore, i argue that a highlight reel doesn't make you the GOAT.

10 years down the line when discussions are taking place on who the greatest American athletes are of all time it'll still be:

    Jordan, Ali and the Babe.

It won't be Kobe, Ali and Babe. LOL.

Exactly. The OP may be too young to remember, but Kobe just won Player of the decade. In 1999, Jordan was voted ATHELETE of the CENTURY.

Why you guys still responding to these laker trolls? They'll just ignore the proofs you present and toss out arguments like "no doubt about it", "Jordan wouldn't have done **** without Pippen", "All LeBron cares about is his stats"...

    Remember this guy?

Shaq has never won anything without an elite shooting guard.

You honestly expected Jordan in his first 3 years (including one injury plagued year) to take a lottery team with no other major aquisitions deep into the playoffs (or possibly a title)?

It looks like you hold Jordan in higher regard than anyone else.

That's the problem. You're so emotionally attached to Micheal Jordan you refuse to even take in consideration Kobe could end his career better. And for the record, I'm probably just as old as you. So did see Jordan play

Its a fact. Jordan won nothing without Pippen. It was even a point in time people argued Pippen was better. Scottie was a beast with or without Jordan. Evidenced when Pippen took the Bulls to the playoffs while Jordan was playin baseball. Could Micheal have won without Scottie like Kobe did without Shaq? That seems like a reasonable question

Everyone realizes theres a possibility that Kobe could end up having a greater career. Everyone also realizes that the chance of this happening is small.

His individual accomplishments pale in comparison to Jordan's, and Kobe is already far removed from his prime. He's played 14 years, and there are young players ready to step into the spotlight. With Lebron, Wade, and Durant running around, how many more MVP's do you think Kobe can get? Scoring titles? DPOY? The only category where can catch up is total championships, but do you think he can win 5 more finals MVP's?

Ok, let's use your logic. Kobe never won anything without Fisher. Fisher must be just as integral to those titles as Kobe. Look at the rosters for the Lakers' championship years. If you see Kobe, you also see Fisher.

    It's a fact.

I don't recall this ever happening....was it when Jordan was playing baseball?

Well, with Jordan, he won 6 titles. Without Jordan, he didn't win any.

He obviously could and did. Prior to Pippen's arrival, Jordan took some subpar Bulls' rosters to the playoffs....without importing Europe's best talent.

So you're comparing Scottie pippen's impact on the bulls to Derek Fisher? Just to be clear

I'm using your logic. If your logic is sound, it should apply to all instances.

So I guess the question is, are YOU comparing Pippen's impact to Fisher's?

So you're comparing Jordan's impact on the bulls to Kobe Bryant? Just to be clear

Again, your bringing up individual stats. But lets say Kobe wins 10 rings before he retires, does Jordan's accolades still match up then?
