If Kobe gets his ring this year, how is he not the GREATEST?

He doesn't suck. He's just not that great when you thrust him into a no. 1 role just like Gasol

So Garnett and Gasol are comparable in their solo?
KG won an MVP and made to WCF, since when that's equivalent to 0 playoff win?

Well, that's what Kobe wanted, to be THE MAN. So he forces Shaq out of LA. He then realizes he couldn't win without him, so he tries to force HIMSELF out of LA, until they get Gasol.

What a great leader, this guy.

The point is, EVERY player has to deal with having crappy teammates, most their whole career. Kobe has been fortunate to be in such a good organization, because he has only had three years where he didn't have all-star teammates. Look at what Gasol took to 50 wins back when he was on the Grizzlies. Look at what LBJ took to the Finals!

Or Kobe. But Kobe as second fiddle (see Shaq years, Gasol years) is pretty good.

"comparable in their solo"? Seriously, do you use Google Translate to write this absurd babble? Back to ESL for you.

Why don't you compare the supporting cast of Kobe Gasol before their years together?

Shane Battier, James Posey, Mike Miller, Jason Williams, Shane Watson, Eddie Jones

Kobe had Odom, Devean George, Luke Walton, Kwame Brown, Smush Parker, Brian Cook LOL

Not much difference. Odom was better than anyone else on the Grizzlies. You can't just throw names out without factoring where they were in their careers (for instance, Odom was at his peak and Jones was pretty much a journeyman then). Also, the year before Kobe had Caron Butler (better than anyone else on the Grizzlies) instead of Kwame and he did even worse.

He wanted to be the man, but he didn't want butterknives surrounding him. He didn't trade Caron Butler for Kwame...the front office did. Caron and Kobe still are close friends to this day

Gasol also is 0-12 in the playoffs. 12 games and not even a single win when the pressure is on? geeze. Gasol is a HOF NOW...no one is denying that but the face of the matter is you need a good supporting cast to get things done so nobody should be downplaying Jordan's, Magic's, Bird's , Kareem's, LBJ's supporting cast just to praise them...other facts can be throw in there to dismiss how the supporting cast argument isn't as strong

let me put this to rest.

if kobe wins another ring, he will inch closer to top 5 status, and nothing more. he will NEVER be the best player of all time for these reasons:

    1) he only won ONE MVP. it doesn't matter who he played with, if you want to be in the conversation as the GOAT, you have to win at least 4-5 MVPs in your career.

    2) he was (and kobe admitted this MANY times) the 2nd best player in 3 of the 4 championships. MJ won 6 rings as the #1 guy every time.

    3) stats. kobe's stats pale in comparison to MJ (and eventually lebron) and that's putting it lightly. MJ (and eventually lebron) actually blow kobe's stats out of the water from ppg to rebounds to assists to fg%... basically down the line except for a few categories here and there.

    4) playoff stats. now MJ and lebron REALLY blow kobe out of the water on this (even our very own hakeem olajuwon). usually the best players of all time elevate their game to another level in the playoffs. kobe actually plays at the same level (but he's so great that that level is already pretty damn high). but the jordans/lebrons/olajuwons actually elevate their games to a different level from the reg. season, where they were/are routinely all-nba.

i thnk those reasons alone should put to rest any question why kobe will never be the greatest even if he won 2-3 more rings. he will never catch up to MJ even if he won 7 rings. that's a fact.

so let's stop this non-sense. kobe will go down as a top 5-10 player of all time and that's an incredible achievement. let's applaud him for being arguably one of the 3 greatest players of our generation (along with shaq and duncan) and not compare him to the GOAT.

So you are saying Kobe is dumb? Because he should know that players like Shaq and Gasol don't grow on trees.

    Shaq was overweight. Fact
Shaq was being a problem in the locker room. Fact
    Shaq was aging. Fact

No need to waste Kobe's prime with a grumpy all star when better options were available
