I didn't claim Kobe's the GOAT, whoever claimed that you should argue with him instead.

But he's clearly better than the likes of Wade, LBJ.

    Kobe 3rd All-NBA in 1998.

Wade was 2nd All-NBA in 2005-06 when he won a champ with Shaq.

Besides, ALL-NBA is voted on, it's not exactly scientific.

What's your point? Gasol never got better than All-NBA 3rd team to date. And Kobe won a championship with him nonetheless.

    Kobe > Shaq

Lebron didn't cost his team the series. The Cavs shouldn't have even been there (they beat the same Detroit team that almost swept the Lakers in 2004, thanks to Kobe's chucking, BTW). Have you taken a look at that roster? It's worse than what Kobe had in his "lone wolf" years.

Meanwhile, Kobe's team were the heavy favorites and would have easily won ala 2000-2003 except Kobe decided to take over the game plan. Apples & oranges.

BTW, nice deflection bringing Lebron into a topic that has nothing to do with him. Typical insecure Kobe jocker.

What the heck are you talking about? Smush wasn't even on the team when Kobe won a ring without Shaq.

"Period." Funny. That's generally what people say when they have no way of supporting their claim.

Care to explain why the Lakers weren't able to beat Boston when they had Gasol and Odom?

Have you read the thread title? LOL!

No one is saying Wade and LBJ are better than Kobe. That's a good argument for another thread.

You're whole debate is flawed. Thats why we're not getting anywhere. Again by implying Kobe's not the "main" man on his team, NOBODY agrees with that because its so fundamentally stupid. If you actually believe Kobe isnt the best player on his own team you have a altered sense of reality. Gasol is by no means the best bigman or powerfoward in the game, its either Howard, Yao or Duncan PERIOD. You're delusional

That's a really weak argument. All-NBA is a voted award, it's hardly an accurate measure of a player's worth.

Why did Kobe's teams suck for 3 years after Shaq left and until Gasol arrived?

Gasol is the best player on the Lakers now. Look what he's done in the playoffs. Look what he did in the regular season. When Kobe sat out, the Lakers didn't skip a beat-- in fact, they got better (I believe they went 6-1 until the meaningless final games, with the one loss being at the buzzer @Boston). Kobe may put up more glamorous stats (volume shots @low percentage), but Gasol is the big mismatch.

You'd think Laker fans would be happy to have Gasol, but because so many are Kobe-first guys (usually the ones from China), they have to put him down and point out that he never won before Kobe (without looking at his roster and realize that when Mike Miller is your 2nd best player just making the playoffs is a huge credit). Gasol = Lakers MVP.

It may be inaccurate, but still better than no measure and BS you came up with.

When Gasol was the best player in Grizzles, he never won one playoff game. Epic fail.

Just to add to this, Gasol had a higher PER this year than Kobe.

Ya think Pippen ever had a higher PER than Jodan? Nope.

Wow, I just looked at Pippen's career PER, and it's 18.4. Gasol's PER is 21.9

    GASOL >>> PIPPEN

KOBE ALWAYS NEED A GUY AS GOOD OR BETTER THAN HIMSELF TO WIN!

do you think anyone can play with Kwame Brown, Chris Mihm, Smush Parker, Vlad radmanovic, Brian Cook, Luke Walton, Sasha Vujacic, Mo Evans, Aaron McKie and Shammond williams? lol

^ is that what you call a playoff caliber cast lol

Odom is a good player but day to day you just don't know what you're gonna get out of him. He's been in the league nearly 10 years now and people keep saying "Oh he can do this" "oh he has potential to do that" the man is 30 years old and he still can't do things consistently on a night to night basis (or majority of the games) that people rave about

I guess Garnett sucks because he couldn't win with the Timberwolves.

It's not surprising that the stats show that Gasol > Kobe, but you can really tel if you just watch the games. Kobe will have long periods EVERY game where he shoots no matter what the defense does (single covers, double covers, zones, whatever). This leads to a lot of bad shots but Gasol is always there to bail him out. Sometimes it even wins the games for the Lakers (see game 6 @OKC... another missed shot by Kobe, another Gasol bailout, but you don't hear people hyping Gasol for saving the series).

If Kobe got injured, the Lakers would still have a chance. If Gasol went down, it's game over baby. Same as in the Kobe/Shaq years. Kobe == second fiddle.
