But I never dismissed them that they were a championship team. And they dominated next year vs Shaq

immediately? they lost in 2005 to the same Pistons and won in 2006 on Shaq's 3rd go around with them. And lets not forget how rigged the 2006 finals looked...and its not like Shaq was a top 2 contributor of that team either, Mourning was in there closing games out at C with Shaq in the bench in the finals

What? Clutch playoff plays for Kobe? are you kidding me?
How about single-handed got all 8 points in OT and won the game in 2000 finals game 4 when Shaq was fouled out in regular time?

How about leading the Lakers back from 15 pts down in 4th quarter?

Kobe had hit more game winning shot in anyone in league history, bar none.

    For playoff alone.

    May 10, 2000: Lakers 97 - Phoenix 96 (PO, jumper over Kidd w/ 2.6 secs)
    June 14, 2000: Lakers 120 - Pacers 118 (NBA Finals, OT off-reb and put-back w/ 5.9 secs)
    May 12, 2002: Lakers 87 - Spurs 85 (PO, off-reb and put-back w/ 5.1 secs)
    April 30, 2006: Lakers 99 - Suns 98 (PO, OT buzzer-beater, game-tying tear-drop for OT, jumper over Diaw)
    May 21, 2008: Lakers 89 - Spurs 85 (PO, jumper w/ 23.9 secs) *Spurs intentionally foul Vujacic w/ 7 secs, +2FTs

And these do not include the game typing 3 in 2004 finals.

Is this stat kept anywhere? I'm curious how various players rank.

-First year after Shaq left, Kobe's team goes 34-48 and misses the playoffs.
-Next year after that, Kobe's team is bounced in the first round.
-Third year after Shaq, Lakers go 41-41 and again are thumped in the 1st.

4th year, get Gasol, and they are finally good again.

Kobe was basically irrelevant for the years in the middle of his prime. And he's supposed to be better than Jordan?

Jazz choked away 3pts lead in final minute in 98, Malone had his ball stolen in final seconds.

Mavs choked away 10+ pts lead in the last 6 minutes in game 3 of 2006 finals.

And then a year later, the Heat win a title. What's your point?

Who can lead Smush Parker, Kwame, Walton as starters to a championship?

Shaq had 4 all stars in 98 and got swept by Jazz.

Gasol never had the status of Wade or Kobe. Give Kobe Gasol Kobe can win a championship. Give Shaq NVE, Eddie Jones, Penny, Nash, LBJ he came up empty.

Who can win championship with less?

He went to a Miami team that was 43-39 before in the crappy East and had Eddie Jones as its second best player. The fall of the Lakers and the rise of the Heat was a pretty clear indication of how good a player Shaq was, and how Kobe clearly was 2nd fiddle.

Yeah, I'd think a Kobe nutrider would want to forget about that series STAT (maybe you can use your Chinese propaganda machine to make it disappear). That was the single biggest display of bad shot chucking in the history of the league (a league which includes Allen Iverson, so no small accomplishment). Kobe, in his quest for an elusive Finals MVP, opted to take over 1/3rd of the team's shots (at a 30% clip) while he had the most dominant big of all-time being single-covered by a midget. This is your greatest player of all time? LOL!

When did Kobe ever lead those guys to a championship? He has always had Shaq or Gasol in his championships.

Uh, in 1998, Kobe was there when the Jazz swept them. Not sure how that helps your case.

Gasol is not a hyped player but he should be. I'm not sure what you are saying about Nash and LBJ.

Are you seriously implying that the Cav/Suns version of Shaq is comparable to the Laker version?

STFU. Wade, Shaq, Mourning, Haslem, Payton, Walker were all more important than Jones in that championship team.

Lakers had their 3rd best player in Walton.
