If we can get Kobe for a year at a low price, even if he is only 50% of the man he was, it might be worth considering.

What you mean like a Bo Jackson after the injury? That was the saddest thing in the world. The way he was running with that nasty hitch. Looked like a wounded thoroughbred.

    Trade Harden for Howard.

    Trade T-Rob+D-Mo pieces for Gasol.

Make offer to Bryant after his rehab.

    Trade Lin for Nash.

A team full of HOF right here. I don't see how we would fail to win 82 games.

If he is amnestied, my guess is he ends up with the Bulls, the Mavs or Italy.

Don't forget to change the name of the team to the Houston Lakers.

Mitch Kupchak already said the Lakers won't use the amensty provision on Kobe.

Lots of way to say it, but I believe this one is used more frequently by native Mandarin speakers:

    tiān shā de bú yào.

Before the next season starts, I believe, which means if the Lakers DO amnesty him, it has to be done before October 30, 2013.

The team I think that will make a run at him if LA amnesty's him is Dallas. Cuban would be thinking that he can put together a team around Dirk next year that can be adequate enough to fight for a playoff spot until Kobe gets ready to return around February of 2014.

-Other teams would be the Bulls, Celtics(as wierd as it might sound), or the Knicks.

The Rockets just dont make any sense whatsoever. On the basketball court, their window for growth to compete, and financially long term.

-What I think the Lakers should do is to A. Try their butts off to trade Gasol for next to no salary coming back(Rockets prime to get a bargain here).

    B. If they cant trade him for next to nothing... Amnesty Gasol.

    C. Keep Kobe, and take advantage of his Injured Player Exception and insurance kickbacks ownership will recieve for next season.

Here is an explanation of the Injured Player Exception per Inside Hoops:

    4) Disabled Player Exception. A team may replace a player who suffers a season-ending injury with one player making up to 50% of the injured player’s current salary, up to a maximum of the average player salary. The Disabled Player Exception is available in the following circumstances:

    (a) If the player is injured between July 1 and November 30 and is determined to be out for that season, the team has 45 days to use the Exception; or

    (b) If the player is injured between December 1 and June 30 and is determined to be out for the subsequent season, the team has until the following October 1 to use the Exception.

If the Lakers report to the league that Kobe is out for the season next year, they could keep him around the team, keep his bird rights for 2014, and have the ability to add another player through free agency this Summer, add a few smart value pieces with the cap space they have after the Gasol amnesty(or trade).

If a player is amnestied, teams with cap space can place a bid, highest bid wins.

Yeah...and Dallas has the cap space to sign anyone. It makes a lot of sense and it's a move Cuban would do to squeeze out all he can out of Dirk's last years.

He suggested it because he'd love to capitalize on it.

Nah, I speak Chinese while what you have suggested makes sense as a sentence it's not common usage, the native Chinese is more likely to say 门都没有 or in hanyu pinyin men dou mei you (lit. There's no door! - this is trying to describe the situation whereby things won't happen because there's no chance of it happening, it's like someone wants to bring something into a house but there's no door to bring it through!)

I see. I thought you were suggesting they would have priority, as in a waiver wire pickup.

Hypothetically, let's say he's fully healthy and wouldn't cost the Rockets a nickel. In that extremely unlikely scenario, I still don't want him.
