I think adelman is fine as the coach, but you can manipulate statistics to look any way you want.

the rosters under both coaches are significantly different.

Yea i don't know what's up with the defense tonight...even with Artest and Battier...im seeing Wizards taking shots that aren't being challenged . Wtf? No wonder Wizards keep making them. You can't leave guys open and hope they're missing ...that's not defense.

That's not from ClutchFans -- no ads like that here. Looks like you might have picked up a virus/malware from somewhere, given the domain you posted (adv.net) images from (they are broken here).

In no way was JVG "perfect" for the team. He brought a lot of good things to the table, but he wasn't perfect. Nor was Rudy once the Steve era kicked off. Larry Brown would not be perfect. Phil Jackson is probably the closest guy to "perfect" this roster could have as a coach (which isn't happening).

The league doesn't have a lot of truly great coaches.

Bring in Rudy T and this team would be untouchable.

I agreed we need a bigger PF. I like scola and landry but we need another guy with size to help out yao on the defensive end

I don't think intensity would be as big a concern as it seems to be so far.

But......JVG is history. This team is capable of winning, and I think RA is sufficient.

Here's the problem with your analysis, Gundy didn't have THIS team. You're comparing apples to oranges. If you think Adelamn would have this high of a win percentage in the Yao/Francis era think again. While Yao/Tracy/Sura/Barry/Wesley team was good - it wasn't nearly as good as this one. Give Van Gundy this team with Artest, Brooks, and Landry and then let's see how the win percentages match up.

I can forgive Adelman for putting in his starters at the end once, but he did it 3 times in a row. He has one win to show for that and almost gave that one away. As badly as McGrady was playing last night there is no justification for putting him back in. Scola had picked up a 5th foul, fine sub in Yao - leave everyone else the same.

JVG may not have been flashy. His offense might not have been as fluid as Rick's (although I haven't seen it), but he'd never let his stars play with so little intensity. T-Mac said Van Gundy was the best coach he ever had and that's because he drove Tracy to be better - I don't think you can say the same about Rick. Rick is content to be the players coach and coddle Tracy. Van Gundy wouldn't have put Tracy in during the waning minutes when he's been playing like crap.

    Adelman is hardly CLEARLY superior.

I'd rather have Tom Thibodeaux. Bringing JVG back with TT would be pointless.

JVG would still be the coach if he wanted to be, and if he was smart and let the scrubs play against Denver 3 years ago.

Because we would have Brandon Roy on this team, and Tmac could sit all he wants and I wouldn't care.

Let him impose that iron will from the bench.

While it hurt us to win that game, I'm sorry I'll never fault a coach for trying to win a game. I agree with Van Gundy when he talks about how tanking destroys the sport.

PS - we were never loaded under JVG. this team on paper is loaded at every position outside of PG and backup C.

so no, RA needs to do better. we look at our best this year when we play JVG-style it seems like.

Tell that to the Spurs who took Duncan by tanking, or the Rockets who tanked to get Hakeem.

Sometimes it is just smarter for the organization to realize that they would be better served in the future by losing now.

I'd be happy to tell it to them. I'm not saying it doesn't help an organization, but it still isn't right. Flopping can sometimes pay big dividends for a team (just ask the Cavs when they played the Rockets), but it still has no place in the game - neither does tanking.
