The only reason Jordan retired was because he was scared of the Rockets.

i think Jordan can beat anyone anytime. even now! i think he can take on the entire Pistons team with no problem whatsoever.

also, do you think the 89 bulls could beat the 96 bulls if Jordan was cloned?

chinesetaco, ignore all these CF.NET e-bullies who for some reason think they are superior than you because they've been a member for 5 years + . Yes, this topic has been posted many times, but if it was such a big issue, they should have just ignored it. Everyday that goes by, this board becomes closer and closer to the ESPN boards.

i never said he had a bad supporting cast, he just never had that second threat that Jordan had, they were all shooters to hit the shot, when Hakeem got double and triple teamed, yes jordan had them as well,
i was just trying to prove the point that jordan gets way too much credit for the bulls success, he was a big part of it, but never the way he is made out to be
my point was, replace hakeem with jordan that year, and we dont win the championship

read my reply again, i never snubbed the supporting cast, cause every championship team requires good role players

ok. my apologies. im just a big fan of that team in general. dismantling the magic and overcoming the knicks and always getting the best of barkley and the suns, and it was beautiful to watch the Jazz get knocked out (although i couldnt stand the sight of Hornacek at the free throw line rubbing his face).
but still a big Cassell (go Clips!(rockets team in disguise)) and Horry fan.

Holy s**t, so many uptight people here. The guy said he didn't follow basketball back then, is just looking for some conversation. The overall mood of this board is rapidly going downhill. How about we try this novel idea...be more welcoming and God forbid POLITE to one another. What happened to just a general kindness and respect towards your fellow man...a man who even happens to be a fan just like you.

Of course the Rockets would have beaten the Bulls. The matchups favored the Rockets. No team matched up better against the early 90's Bulls better than the Rockets.

Matt Bullard was asked this question on a local radio show, and he was confident in saying the same, saying the Rockets beat the Bulls 5 of 6 times during the Bulls first 3 peat.

    Jordan was lucky he retired.

Now if you want to pose the question...If Mutombo's Nuggets hadn't knocked out the #1 seeded Sonics in the 1994 Western Conference playoffs, would the Rockets have won the NBA Championship that year?...then you have a debate.

The fact that Seattle over Houston victories in '93 and '96 bookended the championships shows you something, in addition to the jumping up and down of everyone in Houston when they saw Dikembe grab that ball over his head while lying on the ground...makes you think.

    Thank you Nuggets!

damn those sonics...that crap has stayed with me so long, when we play them now I still think...damn those sonics, hehehe. I often think I see Sam Perkins sometimes and I get scared.

Good Question!!! but that Sonics team always beat the Rox no matter what. Schrempf, insane Kemp, Payton.
i love the rockets but they couldnt beat that team.

I remember when the bulls won 72 games in 96, the rockets got killed by the bulls at chicago, and the rockets beat the bulls at home. something like 105-83. i think its a fair question. had jordan not retired it would of probably been bulls rockets in 94, and bulls rockets in 95, even though the rockets would of lost in 95 since the rockets were the 6th seed. in 1997 however if it wasnt for stockton we could of been talking about bulls rockets in 1997 which in that case it was open. anyone's series. rodman, scottie, and jordan vs. charles, clyde. and hakeem.

then again if we could not beat the sonics, what makes us think we could of beaten the bulls in the finals. the bulls basically swept the first 3 games against seattle we couldnt even do that. The playoffs and finals is a different story. bulls win.

the rockets were just like that. there were certain teams that gave them problems. particularly in the power forward position. it was more about matchups. and chicago couldnt matchup with hakeem and we had 1 of the best defenders against jordan in maxwell.
Seattle had Payton (who would destroy any point guard) and Kemp was just nuts, Perkins killed us, and Schrempf was like Hornacek annoying to watch but he always got the best of his opponents.

ok in 1996 their 72 win season. we lost both to the bulls. the bulls won 100-86 looks like drexler did not play. and then we lost 98-87. In 1997 is when we got spanked by the bulls (69 win season) 110-86; however it was a back to back because we killed philly the previous day 120-99. Then later in year we beat the bulls 102-86 without barkley.
