though a pretty rabid rockets fan, my OBJECTIVE opinion:

    we would lose in 6.

the jazz have agreat team this year. and they just spanked new orleans and the spurs. they pummelled the spurs so bad that pop sat his starters with 9 minutes left in the 4th.

They look amazing until you look at their road record. They will be really tough if we don't get HCA.'

I hope that Kings game doesn't come back to haunt us

I'm a big Rockets fan but it's blind homerism if you think we can get past the Jazz without Yao's low post game. We are basically a streaky jump shooting team without Yao and in the playoffs all those jumpers will eventually dry up.
Chuck does a great job on Boozer but we have no answer for D Williams and he is the key to beating the Jazz.

Jazz take out the Rockets in 6 if we are lucky enough to win 2 games. :(

Am I the only person who thinks this year's system and players, could actually match up well with the Jazz?

Boozer killed us last year because Yao couldn't stay with him. Now you could throw Chuck, Landry, and Scola at him. Their center stays away from the basket, and Landry and Scola would be fine guarding him out there.

I think Deke becomes less important against the Jazz. Maybe Scola and Landry on the floor at the same time against their front line.

We will get killed by the Jazz. We need to play a poor defensive team in the playoffs. Mavs, GSW, Nuggets, even Suns would be better than the Jazz.

McGrady will go crazy on the Jazz. He'll score 47 points every game with Kirilenko guarding him, just to make his point.

Rockets will probably not make it out of the 1st round again if they have to play the Jazz.

I'm pretty positive that neither Scola nor Landry can contain Boozer, especially with the way that Landry's been playing since returning. Also, Okur and Williams are as problematic as they were last year, providing more bad mismatches.

the jazz are better than the rockets at every position except shooting guard.

the rockets struggle to defend against pick and roll teams (jazz/suns/hornets). this neutralizes much of the rockets' overall defensive advantage.

the rockets would struggle to rebound against boozer/ak/okur/millsap

as you said deke would not play in the series b/c of the okur matchup, so you would have no shotblocking at all, further reducing the rockets' defensive advantage.

the jazz play very physical, and less fouls are called in the playoffs.

but mostly, Utah forces the rockets to adjust to their style, and that's not the way the rockets would play under normal circumstances. just like dallas had to adjust to GSW last year and got destroyed, whenever your team is the one changing to matchup with the opponent, its a bad thing, because its likely not as effective of a lineup as the one that got you to the playoffs in the first place.

It's hard to say. It depends how the Rockets front court perform. But I'll say the Jazz have the advantages.

No teams will sweep us. T-Mac will win one game by himself alone.

yea i think we can beat the jazz, put chuck on boozer, i know he will get alot of probs. Novak can be like their okur, and well their pg is the only prob we have. But if Landry gets his explosiveness by then...yea we'll win :D

I think we have a good shot. We're worse of with yao. If we put in a smaller lineup like landry, scola and hayes, we actually have a better chance against them. Don't forget, scola is a tough player, hayes is a tough defender, and Im confident that a 100% landry can easily contain okur. Boozer destroyed us by speed and fadeaways. Yao wasn't quick enough. But we have hayes this time, and he is faster than Yao,

We also have battier guarding their best shooter. So im not that worried. Plus, the odds that a team sweeps another team in regular season is not very high. What are the odds that jazz can repeat the same. Remember, even the kings beat us this year in the most improbable moment. We've been winning games that we don't expect to win.

Remember earlier this season, game 8 against jazz? That was JVG offense, but T-mac was on fire that game. And we blew them out.

The only teams the Rockets have a chance against is the hornets and nuggets. The jazz are too physical for the Rockets

I certainly think we hold great chance beating Jazz this year, cuz we have got a great deal of changes on offensive since last year. you should do notice that we have a great offense master to be coach, instead of Jeff Vangundy. It was very miserable memory that we only got two players who could score consistently in the playoff last year. But its all different now, Scola will step up to steadily make tons of scores and well defend Boozer's jump shots. If we get home advantage and keep the great defense as we used to be, then i will say its a safe bet that we will get through the first series. :)

rox will take the jazz out.

very even match, as far as match up goes, rox cant guard williams and boozer last season, with bjax and hayes playing more, rox could minimized the effectiveness of this 2 guys this season.

x-factor of the series will be the 3p shooting. Both teams have a lot of emphasis on the 3p line, who ever that guard the 3p line better will win the series.

Remember how well McGrady played in Utah that 2nd game of the season? That was his best game as a Rocket in my opinion.

I think McGrady would be fired up to play Utah again.

Lots of doomsday stuff for the Rockets here, but I think any of the Western Conference teams, no matter who they are matched with, can get out of the first round.

Last year we saw Golden State take out the Mavs.

Other than GS or Denver, any team in the West can get to the finals. Yes, it is that competitive. Luck and injuries will also be a factor.

Nostradamus wouldn't even venture a bet this year, but I think the Rockets can dig deep and win the West.
