This would take pages and pages, but, for tonight just one thing, well, maybe two. I am still really ticked that Gundy brought down all his Knick cronies to suck up time and resources from the Rockets. That should never have happened and it delayed and in some cases prevented much better personnel decisions from being made. Plus, I don't know if CD was really fully responsible for all those awful drafts, terrible trades, and ridiculous contracts, but that dug the organization into a big hole that they are still trying to get out of. Memories of the Championship teams still somewhat compensate for all the nonsense fans have had to endure since those glorious days. The playoff run last year was one of the few bright spots in the last years; the 2006 run against the Mavs was another except it ended so badly.
Yeah we probably would have no bench but Elie was not contributing as much since Drexler arrived. Maloney was helping us less and hurting us more. Willis helped us because Dream got injured at that time. Many were saying that if we have gotten Damon at that time, we would have won. Damon was one of the top point guards at that time. I think Pippen was impatient and I partly blame Rudy T because he has no offensive sets that will suit Pippen. It was just passing in the post and wait for the outlet pass. Even Pippen said that they can't with him just shooting 3 pointers.
we would've traded ralph sampson to portland for the #2 pick and drexler. I don't think we would've drafted jordan cause we had drexler and i don't think drexler would've played sf to let jordan play sg or let jordan play pg to let clyde play sg. I think we would've drafted barkley or kevin willis
Having that "game" lost and we could be looking at Roy instead of Battier. Hiring JVG as coach--- not. Just can't believe that rox have 1 of the most dynamic SG and a dominant center, and yet have 1 of the ugliest offense of all. As well as putting a lot of Knicks crap alongside Tmac and Yao. Taking Lewis in the draft. Still cant believe it. Home boy and all. Michael Dickerson, Bryce Drew and Mirsad Turkcan...... Not doing that Barkley trade, and Horry and Sam will be Rox legends.
we'd also lose to the Sonics again. We had multiple chances to get Cassell and Horry back. Barkley was the rebounding beast we needed.
I'd swap the Tin Man, Scarecrow and Cowardly Lion with Tracey McGrady and see if the WWizard could do a three for one special for Mr December.
The problem with all these threads about trading Sampson for Jordan or drafting Jordan over Dream is that there is really no guarentee that Jordan becomes the Jordan we know or for that matter Dream becomes the Dream we know. The conditions by which they both dominated had a lot to do with the teams they were on and how they changed their games to respond to those teams. IMO Jordan and Dream came great all around players partly due to the time they spent in wilderness when they stepped up their games to become phenomenons. Also there is the issue of chemistry and there is no telling if a team with Jordan and Dream has the right chemistry. For that matter a team of Jordan, Dream and Drexler might very well self-destruct as trying to integrate both wings players. Finally just assembling individual all stars is no guarentee for dominance as the sum might not equal the parts. Consider the Dream, Barkley, and Pippen Rockets or the Kobe, Shaq, Malone and Payton Lakers which were shredded by a team that truly played team ball. If I could go back and change time I would track down Jon Lucas and Mitch Wiggins and slap the crack pipe out of their hands. We had a known winning team with those guys already and if they could just lay off the rock we likely have our dynasty there. He is king of the city for good reason and we all know why. He stands out more than any other player during his era of basketball as far as how well he played his position. Jordan has had some comparisons, but who in the center position has ever had a chance at being labeled better the Hakeem? What recent players? Not one damn player even comes close. What some newbs here don't understand about Drafting Dream #1 is that Dream was at the University of Houston and the city already loved him and considered him a hometown hero. But I guess the Tmac fans don't know what city loyalty means.
