yes. I care Rockets more than playoffs. in fact, if rockets miss this playoff, i maybe don't have any interest to watch the playoff games.

Yeah i'll still be a fan, a highly stressed and peeved fan cause they didn't make the playoffs and don't have a 1st rd pick in this year's draft, but i'll still be a fan reguardless.

Besides it not like when the Oilers where up in Buffalo and gave up that huge 30 point something lead to the Bills and then the following year they "choked" again in the playoffs and lost to the Chiefs. That year i lead the Oiler burning gear in my neighborhood  ;)

I look at the Rockets being the same as having a fat wife.

You really love her and always will ...

But damn you wish the &*@^! would lose some weight :p

For the slower ones in the crowd, the losing weight metaphor represents actually learning to play good team-oriented basketball.

ah, this brings back memories of 11 seasons ago.

A big reason the Rockets got me hooked on them was because I started following them with 20 games left in the 1991-92 season. The Rockets were making a playoff run in which ,in the end, they failed. to make it in.

I am still here, so you know my answer to the thread question.

BTW, if the Rockets had won their last game of the 91-92 season at The Summit, they would have qualified for the playoffs. Who did they lose to that night? The Phoenix Suns!

as a result the Lakers got the 8th spot.

Time to return the favor to Phoenix 11 years later!

I won't love them till they bring in a real coach who knows a few offensive plays.

I have been a devoted fan of the Rockets for over 21 years and will continue to do so as long as they play the big mans game.( Basketball is a bigmans game). My star players have been :- Elvin Hayes, Moses, Ralph, Hakeem and Yao Ming. I dont favour the the three Guard small ball type of Game.

jello 77. Thats a very powerful word to use on someone that you dont know anything about! Why do you think I would post an untruth about my devoted interest in the Rockets? I would not have anything to gain by doing so! I am what I say I am, and comment from a person in Chicago is unwarented and uncalled for!!

As a long time Rockets fan, I love the tradition and history that is the Rockets. I have been through Rudy, Calvin, Moses, Elvin, Hakeem, Clyde, and Charles. I loved them all. Some great years, some great teams. BUT, I wouldn't love this team if they made the playoffs. They the play the "crappiest" basketball I have ever seen at any level including little dribblers.

I have never liked Steve Francis since the day he arrived, still don't. Rice was a great player but now isn't. He is good for about two "hot" games a season. Moochie is a "CBA" level guard that got a dream contract. Cute hair, but largely a waste of money. Morris is a Francis "homie," probably wouldn't be on the roster of most NBA teams. Mobley is a "Steve Clone" that is just as undisciplined. Taylor is just now coming out of a serious injury. Mainly a jump shooter. Griffin is a long term project that may or may not reach his potential (no fire). Ming (my favorite) has shown flashes of brilliance, but must have a fatigue problem that could prove serious, but he is the only reason I am still following this team.

This group doesn't play as team, appears to have no organized scheme, totally clueless most of the time. What's to love? I do not share any optimism about the future. This group may go down as one of the most underachieving, disappointing teams in Rocket's history. I am hoping for big changes in the offseason. If not, I will take a fan sabbatical, until real basketball returns to Houston. I plan to get bashed for this post and you can kiss my a** in advance. But guess what, I know a ton of Rocket's fans who feel the same way. Have a happy day! :)

P.S. Check out the NCAA tournament play, most of the teams may not have the raw talent the Rockets do (some may have more), but they sure know alot more about basketball; teamwork, passing, plays, motion, defense, etc. I would love to see this Rockets team compete in the final four. I don't think they would fare any better than they will in the first round of the NBA playoffs if they even make it. :)

As a native Houstonian, I'll always pull for the Rockets. They may not remain my number one team, however. Here in Chicago, I'm watching another young team rebuilding, and they're playing with fire and pride.
When I was yelling myself hoarse for the Rockets' half-@$$ed performance against the Bulls in the United Center 1/26, I had to seriously question whether the Rox, for whatever reason, will ever play better, or smarter, or more disciplined, or hungrier, or even learn and adapt and not play the same bad-spaced, lazy, telegraphed-passing and unenthusiastic, unfocused, uninspired basketball, making the same mistakes I've seen since 96.
Doesn't matter. In the end, I'll still be there. One hoarse voice, yelling 'Let's go Rockets!"

Rockets fan till I die. What makes being a fan so sweet is sticking with your team during the rough years only to see them emerge as champions once again... and I have every confidence that the ROX will.

By the way, I simply love that Rockets commercial with the guy who goes through the range of emotions of a true fan(you know the one that has the big Texas symbol on the wall behind him), the first time I saw that commercial, I just about fell out laughing when he turned the tv off saying he was "sick of this crap" and then came back to the tv apologizing.... now that is a true fan and thats me, no matter how badly they play I just can't help but watch...
