Dear god, Hope you got the letter, And I pray you can make it better down here. I dont mean a big reduction in the price of beer, But all the people that you made in your image, See them starving on their feet, cause they dont get enough to eat From god, I cant believe in you. Dear god, Sorry to disturb you, But I feel that I should be heard loud and clear. We all need a big reduction in amount of tears, And all the people that you made in your image, See them fighting in the street, cause they cant make opinions meet, About god, I cant believe in you. Did you make disease, and the diamond blue? Did you make mankind after we made you? And the devil too! Dear god, Dont know if you noticed, But your name is on a lot of quotes in this book. Us crazy humans wrote it, you should take a look, And all the people that you made in your image, Still believing that junk is true. Well I know it aint and so do you, Dear god, I cant believe in, I dont believe in, I wont believe in heaven and hell. No saints, no sinners, No devil as well. No pearly gates, no thorny crown. Youre always letting us humans down. The wars you bring, the babes you drown. Those lost at sea and never found, And its the same the whole world round. The hurt I see helps to compound, That the father, son and holy ghost, Is just somebodys unholy hoax, And if youre up there youll perceive, That my hearts here upon my sleeve. If theres one thing I dont believe in... Its you, Dear god.
i saw a documentary about that guy...ted haggard...on HBO...it was beyond sad. his church has completely turned its back on him. part of his agreement when he left the church was they told him he had to leave the state...and couldn't come back until they said he could. they left him out on his own with no job and no money...with a wife (who stuck with him) and children...for 18 freaking months. he was a confessed hypocrite...a broken broken man trying to rebuild his life from the ground up....and the church couldn't make room for him. they ran the whole thing like a public relations campaign, worrying more for their own reputation than for the pain this man was dealing with...however screwed up he was to begin with. i confess that i am extremely judgmental of "churches" like that. i need help with this.
Which singularity are you talking about. black hole or big bang? There are many singularities in the universe. From "four corners of the earth" to "singularity of black hole or big bang", God always finds his place. No doubt.
I don't think that's being judgemental, Max. If you saw someone commit a murder, would it be judgemental to then call them a murderer? I think what you meant is that you don't want duplicate their own lack of moral consistency by turning your back on them or despising them. The philosophy of Jesus would certainly find that unacceptable. I don't think I could do that - thus my previous post.
I didn't know about that. If that is true, nothing wrong with judging that. Makes we want to walk away from 'church' every time I hear a story like this. Man, I can't post how I feel about that if it's true. I suggest they sell the church property give it to a good charity and start over reading the words of Jesus.
When I read it It made me mad as Gehenna! But, it is what it is... I sure appreciate you alot and your posts are always worth reading I generally read them and learn
I've always wondered how people can like parts of a faith/religion but not other parts. I can't see the logic. I can see the logic in interpreting something differently or disagreeing with the faith altogether. I mean, isn't the understanding that Jesus "approves" of everything in the bible? Say Jesus did something routinely - isn't it expected that you, as a Christian, can not really disagree with what he did? he's the perfect example right? Sorry abotu the rookie questions
I can't reconcile a literally interpreted Bible with my faith. I don't believe the earth is less than 10,000 years old. I am Christian, but I am aware that decision was made easy for me by accident of birth. I live in a country where a vast majority of people at least give lip service to being Christian. I have not studied all other religions, or even the largest religions extensively and chosen Christ as my savior. It is hard for me to believe that the God I love would reward me for following the "easy" faith for my part of the world. And punish an Iranian for believing in Islam... Therefore, I believe Christ was an ideal as well as a man/God...and that any who honestly seek goodness and mercy will be given it, regardless of what name they have for it.
it's a matter of interpretation. and the Bible isn't a rule book. it's a collection of letters, prophecy, purported historical accounts, poetry, etc from a bunch of different authors written in different places and many years apart. in my view, those books form together to make one long narrative of man's relationship with God. it is not an operator's manual. it's simply not that simple. i wish it were, i think.
My thought was He'd have to be THE singularity (that is, the cosmic singularity of BIG BANG origin). He's now the Universe and everything in it, of course.
"Creation" is just a poetic way to describe what He really did which was/is "Expansion." He didn't need to create anything. He's always been ALL. He just expanded. It's just that calling Him the GREAT CREATOR is way more sexy than calling Him the GREAT EXPANDER.
