Did you just forget that Bledsoe was the major reason Boston beat Milwaukee last year?

    Terry took his soul.

He has been a very inconsistent and moody player, there is a reason he signed that extension and did not test the market.

    Just wow indeed.

Keep him. He can get hot and put Houston over the top if he gets hot and you can't get comparable value back for him or with the savings from not signing him. The firepower of Harden and an aging CP3 won't be enough in next few years if they simply add a role player to replace Gordon.

With Rockets lack of flexibility and options over the next few years, it's hard to see them getting a better player than Gordon.

Bring back Troy Daniels man. Expiring and let him take like 6 3s a game.

This season taught us not to sign up to long term deals with 30+ year olds. Every season is going to be different.

Everything beyond a 1 year extension is more than a little risk here. Unless he fires this team to the Finals all by himself.

Even then you'd still have to worry about the immediate future. Is it really fun to do another 3 years?

Lol the Chris Paul situation warned you to take your hands off those deals.

Morey just has to find the Rivers and Farieds, and not the MCWs.

We can still get those guys and keep Gordon. Can't bank on one of those guys falling into the Rockets laps and having the right chemistry every year though. It's just as likely we end up with MCW like players in these low risk high reward type pickups.

Thing is you dun have a crystal ball to see into the future, don'tcha? I dun even care how much money you throw at him short term (1-2 years max) but it should be reasonable.

I would draw the line at 2 years.

    Maybe.

Salary cap is rising again. It's currently around $101m. This off-season it should increase to around $107m. The off-season after that, the one in which EJ becomes a free agent, it should increase to around $117 mill or so.

Meaning that $18 mill today would take much less of percentage of the cap in two years.

Eric Gordon, when he plays near his best, is worth about 15% to 20% of the cap as he provides good scoring and shooting at the guard position. Essentially a very solid 3rd option. The problem is that he's getting older, is injury prone, and his shot has gotten worse through out the years

If healthy when it matters and if he gets back to making his shots at a consistent rate then he is worth $18m a year. You pay him because it's hard to replace that value.

EG fits this team perfectly and I would hate to see him go. There are a lot of factors here...
    - is there a true third star that is attainable with Gordon’s contract?
    - is Gordon happy here or would he rather have a bigger role on a team that doesn’t compete for a championship?
    - Do the Rockets feel like 15-18m on Gordon is an appropriate allocation of funds? It is a lot for a bench/role player

    I hope he stays.

In today's inflated NBA salaries I think that is about right for a player like him. That salary fits in between Kent Bazemore and Evan Fournier, which doesn't seem so outrageous to me.

Whether or not its worth it for the Rockets is a different question. It's starter salary, which EG could be, just not here.

I guess. Keeping him and Tucker and considering them as "untouchable" pretty much means CP, Harden, Tucker, EG, Capela are your 5 guys for the duration of their contracts. There's zero wiggle room to add anyone unless we really think someone like Butler is coming for the vet minimum. We are going to rotate vet minimum guys and rookies behind those 5 if untouchable is the case.

Except X has been less than 0 most nights with his -0.8 VORP-itude.

Yesterday is the exception that proved the rule. Gordon is having his worst season in Houston. If he puts up numbers like the last 2 years the Rockets are chasing the 1 seed.

He's not. Despite a few gem games like in Washington and Boston so....here we are.

    Last year 18.0 43/36/81

Last 18 since return from injury 17.7 42/37/79

Other counting stats are right back in line with last year.

He’s back I’d say. Should make for a nice run to end the season.
