I dont know how reliable this Twitter account is but for argument sake lets assume this is true. Who gets him? Not that I believe this rumor but I would trade straight up Harden for Westbrook. If the want draft picks, they can have them.
Lakers trade their PG's straight up plus picks. He's going there anyway either via trade or FA in 12 months.
he I knew this would thread would have some "trade Harden" posts, but can someone address the question? who could present the most reasonable package for him?
I know we are having some rough times around here but dont be bitter, smile This is all hypothetical, play along
Russel Westbrook is the Kyrie Irving of the West. He looks great next to Durant but he wouldn't be able to lead a team on his own. (i.e. with the Rockets roster last year, Westbrook in place of Harden would not even make the playoffs.) There are several players like that around the league, Anthony Davis, Kevin Love etc.
The triple doubles look good. Do you remember though what happened to the Thunder when Westbrook was by himself? Hint: it was much worse than what Harden did
I think Hardens game will age better than westbrooks. Westbrook could have a Francis-like decline after a few bad falls.
Of these teams, could only see him re-signing with LA, maaaybe Miami or Boston(if they get Durant) TWolves, Hornets, Pelicans don't take the risk unless they get some sort of "commitment" beyond one year. Lakers, while not guaranteed, may wait for his FA.
At first glance I can definitely see why OKC would make a move now, so as not to let Westbrook leave next year for nothing. However, with the cap set to increase another 15 next off season (barring a lockout), I could just as easily see teams not wanting to commit anything to a trade now and await next offseason to try to pry him away with JUST cap space and keep their assets. It would be too big a gamble to go all in to get him with the threat of him walking. Look at what LA gave up for Howard/Nash and what they got in return.
