The basketball HOF has on numerous occasions demonstrated an east coast bias. John chaney being the most notable example. Mullin a born and raised New Yorker who played at St. Johns. I'm suprised Mark Jackson isn't in. I agree Carter and Richmond should both be in. No doubt Carter was the best player of the three in his prime. And none of them won anything. Those run TMC teams had inflated offensive numbers.

Some people really search for conspiracy theories. This is similar to a book in which was stated that it was more difficult for players from the south of the Netherlands to get into the Dutch soccer team.
I don't think Mullin is an overachiever. Alcohol and substance abuse almost ruined his career. He had a very good college and NBA career, but he could have been even better... and he has admitted as much in the past. He makes the hall of fame based on the total body of his work, from high school, college and the NBA.
neither of them should be in the HOF. This is why the HOF sucks, it should be for the all time greats not merely really good players. And, I wouldn't be surprised if many of the voters were looking at lack of athleticism (which is silly) instead of just overall impact.
Mullin was a good basketball player who put up a ton of points... Because he played for the original Dream Team is what ultimately led to him being inducted.... Vince Carter was a basketball phenomenom!!!...He should be a first ballot HOF (if not for his stats , then definitely for his global impact)..... Mitch Richmond should get in too but it isnt a given...He was "consistent" ...His career compares to Dumars (but without the rings)....
Seriously? If you did a poll of the rest of the world asking people to name five basketball players, my guess is Carter would barely register.
Personally I would have a problem with mullin being a 1st ballot Hall of famer BUT I dont see how he got in and Reggie Miller didnt.
The powers that be in New York are holding him back Too many playoff dagger shots in the mid-late 90's that aggravated the Knicks
