If Bulls draft Roy at No. 2, trade might be in the works

I'm more leaning to trading down for multiple picks. Rodney Carney has been sliding a bit. I think he's a James Posey type that would fit in well. I just dont see enough explosiveness from Roy or creativity to warrant going up so high. He's solid but not game changing. This wesley/head at the 2 isnt going to work so I could see why the brass is trying hard to go high.

His words were to the effect of: "There are those in the Rockets organization who believe that the addition of Roy+Ming+McGrady equals a championship". Sounds a bit farfetched I know but that's what the man reported.

Is it just me or does Brandon Roy seem too skinny? At 6'5" 195 lbs. he's like another Tayshaun Prince. And his knee issues bother me too. Don't we have enough injury concerns with Tmac's back and Yao's feet?

I hope the Rockets aren't falling in love with one player just because he's the only "top" player at the "position" (2 guard) they covet the most. They need to go with the top PLAYER period. You mean to tell me if you draft Rudy Gay, you can't start him at the 2 along side Tmac?

I think whats good about Roy is his work ethic/attitude. He's improved every year in college.

It's only far fetched because we don't know what the rest of the line up would look like yet. If we added Mike James and someone like Jarred Jeffries, throw in the outside shooting of Scott Padgett off the bench and suddenly the Rockets look very much like a contending team.

    Starters:
    Yao
    Jeffries
    TMac
    Roy
    Alston

    Bench:
    James
    Howard
    Deke
    Stro
    Hayes
    Padgett
    32nd pick (PJ Tucker?)

And there's still room for a couple of other off season aquisitions, but that roster looks as good as Miami's on paper.

There's definitely been talk about the Bulls and Roy, so this isn't a baseless rumor. Several papers have mentioned it, and not in a recycled sense (i.e. one guy throws it out, and Chad Ford types re-report it as a scoop).

I've seen Lakers wanting Roy via Chicago
I've seen Bulls wanting to parlay the #2 for a veteran big man rather than draft a green one
I've seen the Bulls moving Ben Gordon with #2
I've seen Bulls moving Chandler with the #2
I've seen reports that the Bulls were drafting Roy (for themselves, which didn't make a lot of sense at first)
Now this guy is mentioning us

It's fair to say that if the #2 pick is Roy, chances are good that he might be wearing a different hat before the second round.

Those are old numbers. He checked in at the official NBA pre-draft camp at 6' 6 1/4" and 207 lbs.

Just my two cents, but if a trade with the Bulls and Rockets actually took place, almost assuredly a third team would be involved -- IMO.

^ Agreed. I don't see how a trade between our 2 teams would wow the Bulls enough to trade the #2 for #8 and reasonable for us to do.

Remember this draft isnt like every other draft. The talent is basically the same in the top 7 with exception to say Morrison(imo)

    Makes sense.

The Bulls obviously know how badly we want Brandon Roy.

I hate to lend Sam Smith any credence, but maybe Stromile Swift and the #8 might land us the 2nd pick.

CD did say Chicago loves Brewer. Wouldn't he make sense paired next to Ben Gordon? (Of course, Brewer next to Luther would be OK, too, in such a scenario: tall SG with PG skills and short SG without PG skills.)

The trade would have to go down after the draft when Chicago's cap space opens. Either Stro + #8 or Juwan + #8 and a future first rounder or whatever.

Under this scenario, IMO, a trade of Swift/Howard + #8 would mean Aldridge or Bargnani. A trade of Head, a future first (please not next year) + #8 would be Gay or Morrison. The #2 would be too high for Roy.

As long as it's not head+ Swift and the #8 pick for roy. i think were going to be giving to much for roy. at number 2, i'll be more inclined to draft barghani or Morrison then Roy.

I'm grudgingly okay with Head and #8 for Roy. I don't know why anyone would be willing to give up more than that for Roy, whether he's taken 5th, 2nd or whenever.

But since we are both over the cap, who are we getting back for Swift, Head and/or Howard? He'd have to be (a) worse player(s) with a like contract.

If he is anything like Tayshaun then I'd say definitely draft him

There is no way we should send out Swift and #8 for #2, unless we are going to take Morrison at #2. And he is not the ideal fit.

Chicago is doing exactly what they need to do to lock in Toronto at the top. If Toronto wants Bargnani, they are just going to have to draft him, because if they don't, Chicago really should take him at #2. He is the offense to Chandler's defense, and paired with Gordon, Nocioni, and Hinrich would give them deadly perimeter offense. All Chicago has to do is wait on the Greg Oden sweepstakes to add their last interior piece. Bargnani would fit just fine in Chicago. Therefore, if Portland is going to make sure they get Bargnani, they either have to deal with Chicago or they have to draft the kid.

Paxson has really done the best job of the top teams of keeping his card from being seen. They've said good things about everybody and thrown out the possibilities of taking everyone practically along with all the rumors of the trades. I still think they will take Thomas if Toronto takes Bargnani. I think it is probably 95% that Toronto takes Bargnani. Thomas makes the most sense for Chicago because of his tremendous upside. They are basically solid everywhere with players at every position. If Ty turned out well, they are still in position to add Oden next year, and if not, they have a lot of pieces to trade for a major star player. I think it is 95% that Chicago takes Thomas.

And if Chicago gambles and takes Roy, then we should not be willing to trade with them unless they are willing to only do the Luther Head and #8 deal, the same as Atlanta.

I just dont see how Roy can get enough playing times in Chicago unless they are going to trade some players.

    Hinrich 37mpg/ Duhon 29mpg/Gordon 31mpg/Deng 33mpg/Nocioni 27mpg

Chicago is going to pick Bargani if they want to keep the pick.

Or pick Thomas if they are going to trade the pick.

I think they would pick Roy to deal him, supposedly the Lakers are REALLY interested in Roy and have spoken to Chicago about a deal.

Also, Duhon is being shopped and even Gordon's name has been tossed around. The Bulls really need a PF but they could also use a SG w/ size.
