If Bolton testimony is blocked, our democracy has ended.

Meanwhile, yet another retrumplican senator trying to avoid the testimony evidence (and testimony)... he would be interested in reading it, but only after he votes to acquit trump. Maybe.

 

My biggest worry is the Russians hacking the voting machines or using that as a basis to muddy the elections.

 

Or Iran, or China. It’s open season. But LOL, they probably all want different outcomes.

He said Republicans are mad at Democrats for calling out Trump's selective anti-corruption compaign (against Bidens) and the conflict of interest it represents.

He also said that the longer this "partisan" affair goes on, the more divided the country will get. Good bit of fear mongering there - in best traditions of dictatorial government.

Anyone notice people to be fired up to go to the polls over this? Esp. republican leaning people? Is the 75% poll calling for witnesses not true?

Anti-Trump front page article on Fox news this evening. Says, that constitutionally, Congress has exclusive power to conduct impeachments and administration is not meant to be able to stop them.

This seems in-line with the point I read somewhere else that administration would have to go to court to ask for stay of Bolton's testimony instead of Senate having to go to court to ensure Bolton testifies, which increases the difficulty of blocking the witnesses. Trump does not get to set "voluminous" number of witnesses and to extend the trial forever.

Even if this is just Fox trying to save face in the 11th hour (it's just an opinion peace after all), it's still nice to know that they have not been completely zombified (I guess it helps them, that Trump doesn't read anything other than tweets).

What if he claims election fraud and said the results are invalid? What if he literally refuses to vacate the presidency and face civil war rather than defeat?

 

I can't imagine why any of them would want anything other than another trump administration. It all works out to their benefit. They know he can't negotiate his way out of a paper bag and all they have to do is say something nice about him to get what they want.

 

Not so sure, honestly. I think Iran liked moving toward a future more integrated in the global community. And by the numbers, the trade war has hurt China's economy. But if they're playing the long game, and wanting to see American influence continue to decrease, then yes, Trump part II would seem to be their best bet.

 

If Trump already released the full transcript of the call and the Ukrainians have denied collusion, besides book sales what exactly is the reason for Bolton to testify?

Yeah because these proceedings have been a ratings bonanza, smh

 

First of all, I believe there were two phone calls with ukraine in question... and trump only released a transcript to one. And I am pretty sure trump hasn't released a full transcript. bolton would be able to testify what trump told him... which would be only the second person to be able to testify about direct conversations with trump.

 

That would be hearsay, which is inadmissible. So unless Bolton was in the room or listening in on an open line this is free publicity for his book, just like Comey.

 

If trump told bolton he withheld the aid for the only purpose of getting dirt on Biden would only be hearsay?

And its possible/likely bolton was in the room. We don't know yet, until/if he testifies. Or publishes the book.
