I thought Harden wasn't enough to get Herro. Maybe they're going after Luka, Durant or Giannis.

Herro just averaged 15, 5, and 3 on 44/36/80 shooting splits as a 2nd year player on a playoff team…the chance of u getting that with the 24th pick is not likely

Jokic in the 2nd round is an enormous outlier

The difference being that Simmons is signed to a long term max contract and isn’t good enough to win a championship since he can’t shoot from the outside or hit FTs. He only shot 34% on FTs in the playoffs. That won’t cut it. The only way you trade for Simmons is to get rid of Wall’s contract but I doubt Morey is dumb enough to piss of Embid by signing an injury prone Wall and further handcuffing the team to another bad contract. With that being said, I still don’t think Simmons becomes a reliable outside shooter or improves FT percentage above 55% during his career.

As for Herro, a trade for Eric Gordon works, just to get rid of his contract. Herro is younger and has better handles than Gordon, if Herro doesn’t work out, you can package his next year to another team. The main goal here is unloading Gordon’s contract.

I see 2 out of 22 players on that list that are "much better" than Herro.

IMO, it would be insane to not give up a late first for Herro.

guys like Kuzma are considered great finds and above average picks in the 20’s

Will Herro be a star? No, but people try way too hard to make him out to be some scrub

15/5/3 and on 44/36/80 shooting splits is trash and wouldn’t even be worth the 24th pick, but KPJr and his 17, 3, and 6 on 43/31/73 shooting splits and 53% TS playing in meaningless games and ample garbage time is James Harden

It's not that he's trash. He's a nice spark off the bench guard. It's just that certain guys are harder to get unless you draft them like a 6'10 Kuzma. The small chance of getting a better or more hard to find player out weighs getting a role player that won't move the needle. I'm not super excited on trading future picks for other players at this time so they can put up big numbers on a losing team only to get a fat contract that they don't deserve.

Getting Herro for a low 1st is a great move for a playoff team that doesn't have time to keep rolling the dice.

I also don't think KPJ has proven anything.

the proposed trade that u have a problem with is only giving away the 24th pick for a 2nd year player averaging 15, 5, and 3…the chances of u finding a better player with that pick are very low, and the Rockets would still have the 23rd pick in this draft anyways along with #2 overall…a trade like that for Herro would be an absolute no-brainer

Herro has 6MOY/top bench scorer potential at worst…the odds that the 24th pick moves the needle is much lower than Herro…yeah, maybe u get extremely lucky and find a Capela with a pick in the 20’s, but u can find that with the 23rd pick…most of the time, guys selected towards the end of the 1st round are nothing special

To add, Herro just turned 21 earlier this year, completing 2 years in the league and still happens to be younger than players in this very draft

I’m absolutely giving up either the 23rd or 24th pick for Herro

Even better if they take Gordon instead

Sign me up for a KPJ/Herro backcourt if we draft Mobley

Herro’s play in his 2nd season

    December: 17, 7, and 5 on 49/35/80 shooting splits

    January: 18, 7, and 4 on 44/27/77 shooting splits

    February: 16, 5, and 4 on 44/39/75 shooting splits

    March: 14, 4, and 3 on 36/29/90 shooting splits

    April: 13, 4, and 3 on 48/43/71 shooting splits

    May: 17, 6, and 4 on 54/49/71 shooting splits

noteable games include 34, 7, and 4 at Philly with Embiid and Simmons playing…29, 4, and 8 vs Portland…24, 11, and 3 at Boston

Why are we already capping him at run of the mill bench spark plug after just his 2nd year? To me, at worst, he ends up as Bogdan Bogdonavich on the Hawks, and you’ll be lucky to get that with the 24th pick. Bogdan was drafted 27th, but a lot of that had to do with him being 25 when entering the draft.

Do not want Tyler Herro. He can’t even be Mike Miller or Chase Budinger.

If we can flip a late pick for Herro then we absolutely should do that. He's more proven than the draft and chances are he'll get better rather than worse. Even if he peaks as a solid roleplayer, we need those too and he's a good young age to play alongside the rest of the youngsters. It'd be stupid not to do that.

I think Herro would cost us both of them, and I'd pay it.. He wasn't worth being the centerpiece in a Harden deal, but for the right price you get a guy with size that can handle the rock, stick it from downtown, and distribute the ball. Clutch player (experience at the highest level) who's only 21. Considering that Tyler's healthy once again...

Is there a neither button? One can’t shoot and the other has an oversized ego that comes with living in Miami. See Oladipo

Herro was slightly better in his first year than second year. Maybe it's because of injury. So it's kind of hard to predict his developmental trajectory.

He is a good shooter. In today's game, shooters who can also handle the ball are valuable. Not sure if his bubble Herroic was a fluke. It might be an indication that he can handle pressure situations, unlike shooters like Joe Harris and Ryan Anderson.

Completely agree. Draft Mobley at 2 and flip the later picks for Herro.

    KPJ
    Herro
    Tate
    Wood
    Mobley

    I’m in.
