    We traded for a player who was in his third year playing averaging 16.5. He play legit full seasons, herro hasn't even play one full season in front of the crowd.

    If u know for a fact herro can't reach hardens level u wait for a better offer. U don't jump the gun, there's potential sophomore slump.

    We go for herro cause of hype, we r gonna be the next thunders, u wait.

    my whole point in that statement was to emphasize how you can't put finite projections on a rookie like some other people are doing here. obviously i went to the extreme... but it's safe to say no one can know for sure how a 20 yr old will end up performing after his rookie yr.

    edit: just like the post below me. already placing a box on what herro will be in the future as if everything is decided. and only looking at ppg as an indicator of talent and production. if that's how everyone sees things, then harden averaging 9.9 ppg in his rookie yr without being able to sniff starter mins means he was gonna amount to a full time bench player. yawn.

    Herro is the type of complementary player you work to find to complement a player like Simmons.

    Simmons is potentially the type of foundational piece you pray to get so you can then move on to the easier task of finding guys like Tyler Herro to build around him.

    There really is no comparison.

    Simmons vs. Michael Porter Jr. would be a better question.

    If we've got healthy Wall and Boogie and Wood isn't a fluke, Herro would probably help us win more games this year than MPJ.

    However, Herro's semi-plausible upside is nowhere close to MPJ's. MPJ has lead the league in scoring type potential.

    Herro's floor is a lot higher though. There's almost no way Herro won't be a starting caliber player in the league for a long time barring fluke injuries. There are plenty of scenarios where MPJ isn't, including the injury risk with him.

    This is a mischaracterization. No one is saying he's equal value to Harden. No offer will be equal to Harden. The only outcome possible equal to Harden is Harden himself deciding to stay.

    I think that's right. If Wall is Wall and Cousins is Cousins, adding the key supporting cast from Miami would make this a better roster than last year's Heat Finals team. It would also have some prospect for a future.

    Simmons is mostly a known commodity at this point. He's a star, but a flawed one. I'd just be very hesitant to commit the rest of the remaining cap to him over the next 3 years. Wall will not be easily moveable if things don't pan out. So you're stuck with Simmons and little flexibility to improve while he's heading into UFA.

    Herro, on the other hand, has 3 years left on his rookie deal, and will be going into RFA. So you've got him for 7ish years on a smaller cap number.

    U are comparing harden rookie year to Herro which is dumb as fk. we traded for harden after 3 full season of the nba season.
    Herro is nonexistent and appears out of nowhere during playoffs. U don't go for the hype u wait for a better offer it's that simple.

    it's safe to say no one can know for sure how a 20 yr old will end up performing after his rookie yr, so u fking wait before getting rid of your best player for him.

    No it’s not. Porter Jr. is soft and will sit out at the drop of dime. Whines about getting the ball on a team that was winning. Herro had games where others were getting theirs and you didn’t hear a peep. I would stay away from Porter Jr.

    It would have to be Herro plus Duncan and picks.

    pure nonsense. nobody has said that. stop it. there's no such thing as getting equal value for harden at this point. People who actually expect that are going to be widely disappointed. The people who are advocating for a herro package prefer the massive upside w/ young players, plus the cap space. *newsflash* if harden is out, you're rebuilding. that's just what it is. Nowhere does that mean they're saying that's equal value for harden. It isn't. stop with the false dramatic claim

    How about:

    Harden to the Heat;
    Kendrick Nunn, Duncan Robinson, and a Rocket 1st rounder to the Pistons;
    Precious Achiuwa, PJ Tucker, Andre Iguodala, and 2 Heat 1st rounders to the Cavs;
    Kevin Love, Kelly Olynyk, Tyler Herro, and Derrick Rose to the Rockets.

    PG: Wall/Rose/Clemons or Brown
    SG: Herro/Gordon/McLemore
    SF: House/Nwaba/Green/Tate
    PF: Love/Olynyk/Caboclo
    C: Wood/Cousins

    The Cavs can buy out Tucker and Iggy.

    We don't.

    Herro - 14/2/4 on 43/39/87
    Booker Year 1 - 14/3/3 on 42/34/84

    I'd take Booker right now over Harden. I'll get flak for it, but Booker is able to play seamlessly without the ball in his hands.

    Like Herro is.

    As a lifelong UK fan, I watched them at UK as well. They're identical. Not athletic, but high basketball IQ. Raised as pure shooters who can maneuver without the ball AND create their own shot off the dribble. Watch them use pin downs, their movements are mirror images. They were taught the same, ready to shoot off the screens with perfect form. They find open teammates. They create passing lanes. They move the ball well.

    The downside? Defense, and a lack of athleticism. But as you can see with Booker, years of NBA training can make up for that. Both do a great job of maintaining position to offset their athletic ability.

    Herro is the truth. Just watch him play.

    And they're going to give us pieces on top of that? Yes, please.

    Herro could be the starting SG for Houston for the next 10-12 years, and it's not a stretch to think he couldn't put up 22+ ppg for several seasons.

    There's nothing dumb about comparing where players are at young ages and new to the league. It's absolutely relevant to evaluate the progress of players at the same respective ages. He isn't saying herro is better just because of that. It's a reference to show herro's progress is farther along at the age of 19-20, which goes back to the potential upside being referenced. What do you look for in kids like that and kids that are being drafted. Upside. Ironic how people are throwing that out the window. If the rockets had a top 5 pick and had no idea who it was, people would be drooling all over it. But apparently, when you see a top 5 draft talent for a year and actually perform, it's meh hes not going to be that good. oh the irony.

    Again the discussion is herro vs simmons in packages. A lot of people haven't even read that correctly and most of yall are talking as if it's a 1-1 trade. It isn't.

    He wasn't nonexistent and didn't appear out of nowhere. I posted this in the beginning of the thread that people that don't keep up with anything besides rockets basketball wouldn't know it. The average casual fan got their first glimpse of herro because there was nothing else going on and that was their own first glimpse of him. Don't speak for others that actually keep up with the game outside of the rockets.

    Neither are great options when compared to Harden. But if i was to make a decision bw Herro vs Simmons... its Herro by a long shot. Simmons is not going to grow any further. This is who he is. He will never be a reliable shooter. Simmons = Overvalued

    I rather have these 2 over Simmons. Idk....Simmons is so very talented with great size but how come he hasn't improved in shooting yet? Doesn't seem to have the drive to be the best
