Yet Yao Ming is better than anyone on their team not named Duncan.

    And Tmac is the same......

The Rockets failure has been in getting complimentary pieces for them.....

An athletic 4 that can stretch the defense and rebound, and a penetrating PG that can create shots for himself and others.

This year, CD thought he filled one of those needs in V-Span at the PG spot, but JVG found him too risk to play, and last year CD thought he filled in the other need with Stromile Swift.

So, I think the organization tried, but not every move works out......

    Really??? Even though I still don't like JJ Redick??? j/k :) :D

    Thanks DaDa!

OK...you've hit on two of my top issues with VG...Mike James and Battier...didn't like the outcome of either and Gundy was close to the center of each.

I'm not saying the following team is any better or that it could compete with the Spurs...but it's definitely deeper and more athletic.

    PG - James / Alston
    SG - TMac / James / Snyder
    SF - Gay / TMac
    PF - Howard / Swift / Hayes
    C - Yao / Deke / Swift

And therein lies my biggest issue with VG.

Mad max-Here is the truth and will Les and Morey ever see it?
Although I consider a change of coach was also required besides major roster changes.

We have a decent bench, JVG just doesn't understand how to substitute players. Maybe someday they'll teach him.

Exactly... I was thinking "When is Bowen any more of a scorer than Battier, Head, Juwan, or anyone else on this team?"

Yes that old team with Swift and James would have given JVG more options. Giving up Swift and Gay for Battier was a mistake especially in light of Deke possibly leaving through retirement. The roster has major upgrades up and down, but Morey's got to be the man held accountable in the future.

He and Adelman have to work together, but in the end Morey must be the man making the decisions. No more of this crap where the GM gets a player only for him to warm the bench.

they won because they roughed up the Suns. The Suns backed down form the physical play.

Small point (pun intended), but didn't we have to trade James to get Alston?

Yes. But we had a chance at signing James in the off-season, but we didn't want to meet Mike's demand of a trade kicker. Personally, with the way Mike lashed out against the Rockets on his radio announcement of signing with Minnesota, I don't believe he would have signed with the Rockets had said trade kicker been included.

But regarding the thread, the Rockets should watch game footage of this series every day. Some of the best pick-and-roll defense I've ever seen.

It's simple. Duncan is much better than Yao in rebounding and defense. Heck, his offense is also much better than Yao. I dont see Okur is able to stop Duncan from scoring at low 40% at all. Tmac is better than Gino/Parker, however Gino is the better closer of the game.

Bottomline, Spurs wont have only 4 players scored in a playoff game, ever.

Timmy is great, but you can never be afford to guard him with all of your attention and ignore the other Spurs, while you can always do that to TMac/Yao.
