I was thinking some more about David's situation late yesterday and I think he needs help but not necessarily monetary. This is my take on him after seeing the emails he's been sending to other posters. This is very speculative and am not claiming any expertise just my opinion. I suspect that David probably could use some money but this whole thing is a scam and not just for money but more for attention. Based upon his previous posting pattern, pretending to be Terrance Williams, and also that he is working to be an actor and a rapper I am guessing this is someone who likes and needs to have attention. He probably felt that doing something like this would get him lots of attention and the worst that would come out of it would be a laugh, a temporary banning with him coming back later. I don't think he thought it out that well and was probably surprised by the vehemence he is getting back. That said though the emails being relayed back strike me as being more of a cry for attention down to the not so veiled hints at suicide. As for giving the money back if he really is starving and he is taking care of a kid I don't think he would be giving it back. Same if he was just out scamming for money but I don't think this is about money. I'm not saying this to bash on the guy but I think he needs help. David, if you are reading this get help and not from online. If you really are in financial need for the reasons that you've already seen this isn't the place to look for it. If you are just about getting attention as you can see that can come back to bite you on the ass. I don't know if what you are saying about your family is true or not. Honestly I am skeptical that you are completely abandoned. Even if you are though there are other resources you can turn to that can help you with a job search and if you are depressed.
Unless its to the American Red Cross where only 30% of your donations go to people in need. I think a lot of charitable organizations are a scam as well and not enough goes to the cause they claim to support. There are a few reputable organizations that really do send your charity to the cause you support but not enough.
I'm not trying to get in the middle of this but who are you again?? No one has to explain anything to do you bro. Just leave it alone. You made some rep points and you did make a lot of people laugh so it would probably be wise to let it be. Whether he is lying or not, I think it's clear this thread should be locked for many reasons. To the posters who sent him money, I think you all did a good deed whether he was scamming or not. No need to explain yourselves to anyone on this broad.

It's been more than two. Those were recent examples. I don't think that everyone is trying to scam me, but I am wary when folks come looking for a hand out. I'd prefer not to hand out money willy-nilly when there are truly deserving people and charities out there.

My two cents: I have not read this whole thread. I got picked for jury duty on a criminal case and the way the government has been efficient with my time the last few days suggests I'll be freed from this service around the time the Rockets get a couple of superstars. So this thread was frustrating. Had I seen it sooner I might have been able to comment sooner. For those with a big heart that tried to help, that's kind of you. I'm not trying to be heavy-handed... I'm trying to let people know what is going on from the unique perspective that I have. Someone reported a post in the thread and I looked into it late that day when I got back. The only regret I have about posting what I did is that I wasn't able to post it sooner. I saw him say in the second reply of the post that he was posting from the library. That was a red flag -- I could tell immediately he wasn't posting from the library, so I looked into his account. It wasn't a "maybe" -- he definitely had four accounts on the board. One was previously banned, another was one he was using to claim that he was Terrence Williams. There are different ways of writing/speaking. That's a problem user, and I've dealt with many of them in 15+ years. It's extremely important to me that people know this. You can give great advice and help without sending money, in my opinion, however, if you want to send money, that's your call -- you just need the facts. For me, I wouldn't give any money -- I have a low tolerance for lying and wouldn't give a dime to someone who repeatedly lies and then expects you to believe him. I don't have the slightest clue who that is in real life -- I do know who he is on the board and his track record here. To me, that's all that matters when it's the board only that's being used to solicit money.
For good reason, there's one thing where a regular or known poster comes out and asks for help and there's another thing when a random ass person who has previously been banned for posing as another person comes out and suddenly starts asking for money. If DD suddenly became broke and desperately needed help or something I'm sure clutchfans wouldn't have a problem helping him out whether they like him or not. This? This thread deserves all the speculation it's getting.
That's really what it all comes down to (for me). It's a little insulting that there are people in this thread who equate being skeptical with having no compassion.
Speculation? Sure. Immediate dismissal? Bullying? No. Make sure that you understand the distinction. Being skeptical is one thing. Knee-jerk reaction 'have some pride, scam artist!' is another.
