Yeah why would they give up one of them instead of just retooling around them? Unless they are at each other's throats and demanding trades this is a non-starter.
Yeah, I mean people are not thinking about things from Boston's perspective. Their stars are 25 and 26, they are near the beginning of their championship window. Tatum will probably get even better than he is now. They have years to figure this out as long as nobody gets disgruntled and demands out. Blowing it up is a last resort option in their situation. For Brown, I think it's mainly about getting paid. His situation is great from a basketball perspective and Boston is a high-quality-of-life, major media market. He might be worried Tatum is holding him back from making All-NBA on the theory that writers want to give it to the primary scoring options/best players on their teams. Getting All-NBA unlocks supermax pay for him. I do think he will get in though. We'll find out for sure tonight.
Alp, Green are untouchable unless it’s for a top 5 guy. Bari and Tari untouchable unless it’s for a top 10-15 guy. Either way, this is the same thread over and over again
Brown is a free agent next off season, if he doesn't want to be there, then Boston doesn't have a choice. Also, if they lose this series, it will probably be in there best interest to trade him before the season starts. Similar to Harden and OKC.
If you gave me the choice to having to trade Sengun or Jabari. I would trade Sengun a million out of a million times. I would rather keep him though. Whereas ATW would not trade him for Victor which is why you know deep down you are wasting your time on here with people if that’s what they think
If/When Brown is selected to the all nba team tonight, it puts Boston in position to offer the super max to Brown. And they're the only team to be able to do so. Brown turning down super max? Yeah he'd be stupid to do so, which won't happen. especially when he's made it perfectly clear all nba is important to him. he didn't get to this point to turn down the reward for doing so
D.I.M.W.I.T. = Drowned Into Massive Wackiness In Thread Sorry for my broken english, at least i tried
I personally don't think anyone on the team is untouchable. Untouchable is a strong word. However I do think it's dumb to trade players that are growing and haven't reached their potential unless you are getting a star in return.
I could see someone arguing that for sure. Even that though is I would say questionable. If Sengun was 1"-2" taller and had 2"-3" more wingspan, it would make a world of difference in maximizing his skill. If one were to argue that though I would retort, the odds of either player reaching their top level of play would skew towards Jabari. He had the most double doubles for a 19 year ever coming into last season other than Lebron James and Dwight Howard. I mention that because it shows that typically 19 year olds to not play the minutes he did. Typically it would be less minutes with more of the games coming off the bench against bench players. One would have to think that happened along with Green playing the way he did with 0 IQ (in regards to running a cohesive team) coming from the other PG position so they would lose more. With also the hope that all of those reps against starters for Jabari, along with Green creating his own (more difficult) shots will help in the future with efficiency. You would think if it were designed on a team (say the rockets already had to give up this years pick) that were actually trying to win the above would not have happened. Also they would have had a better PG playing with them. That they would have played better within those parameters and less minutes. You don't know for sure though of course. Next season will very interesting because the above excuses are over and done with.
Brown is gettin the max on his next contract, and there is really not anything to negotiate. If he makes an All-NBA team and the Celtics balk at offering him a super max as soon as he is eligible, they run the risk of destroying the relationship. For all intents and purposes, that announcement should cement him as a Celtic for the foreseeable future. Then CF can focus on making the next superstar in the pecking order a Rocket in exchange for KPJ and Tate. BTW, who is next on the list?
