Detroit does McGrady is a team player. Can't say so much about Iverson. 76ers. he was the guy and had role players that complimented him. Then being traded to Denver it showed that had to have the ball in his hands to do something and he was playing with Melo and Kenyon. Denver had a nice little squad but Iverson was a bad fit. Now in Detroit hmmm its just not working out that well. Billups turned that Denver team around. I guess a really good pg solves all problems .Iverson with Yao, Artest, Scola, shot first Rafer Alston. hahah he'll have a fit. McGrady makes everyone better. Detroit will get away with murder with this trade.
I think it could happen and it's one of the few 'trade T-mac' threads that actually makes sense. Tracy can play SG/SF and PF when they go small for the Pistons and he's willing to pass and get Rip involved unlike AI. Iverson doesn't fit our 'system' at all but he can still beat his man and that's good enough. In the past it would be a problem defensively but Tracy's career is all but over and he can't shuffle his feet to save his life. Of course this only works if Dumars is okay with paying Tracy another year for a possible marginal improvement. If Tracy is truly done, then he'll fit in with the piston's slow offense and AI could make ours faster.
AI's a ball stopper sometimes,so I don't wanna trade Tracy "who still can pass the ball effectively" McGrady for Allen "who's been called Chemistry Killer" Iverson.
I have thought about trading Tmac for AI...and all signs point to it being a disaster...we take what we have for granted and the minute Ai ends up on this team we will appreciate all the things Tracy does for us..... NO way do I do this trade
You should look at last year's thread when alot of people rejected the offer and thought kobe was a team killer. AI isnt so bad. He can avg 7-8 ast a game and still score effectively on a nightly basis, whereas tmac will score one day and be ineffective another day. He is not consistent and therefore will not take the team far because he settles for outside jumpers, which will not work out when the playoffs come. I rather have AI throwing his body in the paint and giving us some guns to work with.
Everyone needs to understand Tmac isnt half the player he use to be. He is pretty washed up, just many people dont have the guts to admit it. I will say it how it is though. AI still can score at will and still give defense fits. He is also expiring so we can save our $ for the 2010 Free agents ith many big names in the market. This is a win win situation for us. Tmac will not win us a ring, everyone just open your eyes now.
of course you'll try and say it how it is, you're safely behind your computer screen. Now would you have the guts to say something like that to t-macs face. T-mac doesn't have to be a consistent scorer on this team, when will you realize that? We're not the team we were in 05 we don't need 25-30 a game from him. We have a very very talented roster that can take some load away. We need him to play within the offense and take us home when the time comes. None of this garbage about playoff success, sure iverson was out of the first round, but it's almost 10 years later and they're both completely different players now, both have matured in different ways and t-mac fits this team better than iverson ever will. Iverson doesn't give us that mismatch every night anymore but with t-mac size and skillset he'll always bring something useful to the table, it can be creating, rebounding, scoring in bunches for a few minutes or just demanding the double team. T-mac isn't as washed up as you think. How many shooting guards in the league demand a double team before they even score a point. The thing with t-mac that AI doesn't have is once t-mac hits 2 or 3 in a row with his height advantage he can go off on anyone. He still has lots in the tank.
