That's funny, because I have not seen one time this season where T-Mac was effective when he did not have the ball. T-Mac and AI are the same except McGrady uses his injuries as an excuse while AI is still healthy and can actually shoot the basketball from the perimeter. That being said, no, I wouldn't trade Mac for Iverson
I disagree. I think the question has merit because Joe D wanted Ai for a long time - and learned to be careful for what he wished. Joe D reportedly wanted TMac last summer. AI is not working for Detroit. TMac is not working for Houston. However, I hold out for a better deal. Maybe maybe - - (Howard/Stack from Not So big d?) or even: (Okafor/Wallace/Nazr - Hayes +) (GS, OKC?)
I would do that deal in a heart beat... we gain a decent pg and we get to start wafer again... Iverson still plays the game with his heart.. Tmac is done
I'll do it in a heart beat, despite that both are perennial losers. AI is a chucker, so is TMac. AI hogs the ball, but at least he can play the point. TMac can play the point but he is a SG, leaving Rafer to chuck 3' pointers. Start AI as point guard. AI/Wafer/Shane/Scola/Yao AI will have a field day driving with Yao in the middle. Rafer/Barry/Artest/Landry/Hayes(Deke)
Like many things in life, everything sounds good on paper. Just take one look at Detroit right now. Sure looks as if they fancy that trade with Billups, especially with AI riding the bench come 4th quater.
Maybe you should think about that sentence you wrote. You think just because AI can and is willing to drive every time he has the ball it'll make us better? How is he going to drive inside when we already have Yao Ming in there huh? You think Tmac is bad for the motion offense? Wait'll you see AI's motion offense lol....
Everyone forgot about the Detroit game already. We pick and rolled Iverson to death because he is absolute garbarge on D. I'm not saying T-Mac is better on one leg, but AI is an awful defender in spite of being healthy.
Wow, you're trading a bigger ballhog than TMac. TMac is a show stopper for the motion offense, but at least he will make the pass after dribbling the ball until the shot clock is about to expire. AI will just dribble the shot clock out without even passing.
AI is going to let the opponent PG driving into the paint at ease, not to mention his declining ability in scoring. AI won;t do any good to our current roster.
AI may still attack the rim but his game is falling and it's pretty evident. maybe he'll get it back maybe not that's just a toss up. as for tracy watching him out there it really looks like his game is done and he will not reach that superstar level of athleticism and skill again. AI is just as much as a ball stopper as tracy, and will probably be playing as a 2 on this team which doesn't help when he's undersized in that position. you got to realize you're getting the AI now, not the AI from his finals run. if this was just business then AI for the contract, not for what he brings to the team. i personally don't see a difference if he or tracy were playing in our system.
After seeing what AI did to the Pistons vs what Billups did for the Nuggets, I don't think AI is the right guy
i think houston would get the better end of the deal. whether it translates to more win, we dont know. just like the AI-billups deal. ai can run around screens and attack the basket. rafer can have full control of the ball since you dont have tmac being a playmaker anymore. tmac on the other hand would be willing to defer to rip (who wants the ball) and probably agree to being a 6th man. they ll have a good playermaker coming off the bench and give stuckey some rest.
I'd pick the one hungry to get back to the finals over the one that doesn't seem to want to even get there.
trading for AI worked out so well for Detroit... The guy is a cancer and a ball hog. Even though McGrady isn't doing well and I am a proponent of trading him, it wouldn't be for this trade. You want to stop the motion offense, get a point guard who wants to shoot first and pass second.
