If a player dunks from the 3pt line, does it count as a 3 or 2?

    I don't think they'd do that.
If a player could hypothetically dunk from the three point line you have to account for fatigue. He might be able to do it maybe the first five minutes of a game and then fatigue would kick in.

Not only that but you'd get someone that would just line up in front of him and take a charge.

Also the potential for someone to get injured doing that would be extremely high. One wrong landing and its a blown knee.

I say 3. It meets all the requirements to be worth 3 points.

Another question we've influencially pondered back in the day:

someone shoots a full court shot, and the buzzer goes off while the ball is in the air. The ball bounces off the ground and into the basket. Does it count?

If a player dunks from the 3pt line, should they automatically be first ballot for the HOF?

I think yes since that will be by far the most difficult individual feat in basketball.

If you were playing a game called "let's ask a stupid question" and a moderately stupid question counted as 2 points. The OP's question would count as a 10 pointer.

So, if a player on a run takes off from before the 3 point line, hangs in the air, mid way to the basket shoots a little 6-8 footer it will count as a 3?

    Pretty much.

Just like if you're at the top of the key (still in the arc), shoot a fadeaway jumper that has your feet landing behind the 3pt line when you land, it'll still count as a 2.

I know, it's hilarious that anyone thinks it's possible. All free throw line dunks done today are with running starts and no dribbling.

Not only that, but a dunk from the 3-point line in-game (even if it were physically possible, which it's not) would require no other player being in the line of the jump. If they are, you either don't make it or it's a charge.

The idea is so laughable, I don't even know how such a question could occur. Playing NBA Jam, maybe?

i was gonna say the same thing. but ya. it will probably never happen. and if it does, its because our species grows to 9 feet tall in a few thousand years.

won't happen as long as the average human is like 5'8".

but you can do it from the wing in nintendo's double dribble!

This will be dug out 47 years later and people can reply when they see the real thing.

They don't even let you do that in NBA Jam.

    You think?

Hey guys, if a player (say, Dwight Howard) blocks a shot and it flies all the way into the basket on the opposite side of the court, is that considered 3 points still?

Even if you consider long jumpers consider it's 10 feet in the air also..

One hypothetical question is obvious, the other isn't as obvious.

No it does not count. Once the shot hits the ground that's it. Otherwise would all rebounds be considered goaltending since "technically" the ball could have bounced off the ground and in?
