We didn't elect him to act on God's behalf; we elected him to act on our behalf.

As omnipresent as God is, you'd think he's pick a more in-command verbalist than George W. Bush. I mean, if He was really married to the idea of picking a Bush, you'd think he'd go with Jeb, who was at least spared that dyslogia that makes W. Bush's mouth, to quote George Will, "the place the English language goes to die."

Or maybe that's actually just how God likes to speak English. I see where Bush is going with this: his verbal ticks are actually Divine English -- English The Way God Speaks It. I am loving this. Thank goodness the Amish got this out of him. This is key.

So, a few notes to self when trying to converse with the Almighty: God uses words like "misunderestimating.". God responds to legitimate questions with a sneering smarmy impatience, as if the question is an insult. God knows the real way to pronounce Abu-Gharib is 'Abu Gharef.'

Of course, that's all fantasy-- God actually speaks through Ryan Seacrest.

    God OUT!

While I truly believe that the "karma of Chucky Brown" is real, what would Chucky Brown say about this nonsense of a post? Hmmm, makes you think?

I thought the post was hillarious, and I don't think you will even find many Bush supporters who think he doesn't have a problem with public speaking.

    God speaks through Ryan Seacrest?

Bend over and kiss your ass goodbye. We are doomed!

i've heard pastors, in prayers, ask for God to speak His word through them...to move them aside and make sure that the message is one that He would want preached.

i don't think this is a foreign concept in Christianity.

i have lots of problems with Bush..but i'm not sure this statement is one of them.

The first one. I'd be just as concerned if Kerry, Clinton, or any other politician said it. I'd honestly have a problem with just about anyone saying it, but I can understand why a preacher, pastor, etc. would say it.

When I said I was surprised, I really was. You've posted a few times on here about how uncomfortable you were with Bush and him acting like he's on some sort of divine mission from God. I thought this idiotic quote kinda summed that up.

If God's speaking through him, then why couldn't he figure out the faulty intel?? :D

ok...i get it. i was misunderstanding you. actually, your post indicated more of the second choice i gave you. that in that role, he has no place saying that.

i thought you were saying that even if a pastor or someone said it you'd have a problem with it.

i definitely understand it. if he's sincere, i'm not overly bothered by it. but if he's not sincere...if he just says that to get votes from those who would fall for that...well that just sucks.

Yeah, to me if he's sincere in believing that, it's just as scary. I don't want any politician, especially the leader of the free world, believing that God is speaking through them.

The reason I picked the second choice is because I thought the HE was referring to Bush alone, like the only reason I had a problem with it was because Bush said it. Since I get why you were asking it now, I'd go with part two.

The Amish had no problem with Bush's comment-- which appears as an afterthought in the storyline. Are they a bunch of fools?

This would be hilarious if it weren't so sad.

How many kings, potentates, popes, suicide cult leaders, terrorist, inquisitors, and messiahs have justified their actions as expressions of the will of god? Were they all right ? Were they all wrong? How can you tell the difference?

Well, you can tell the difference because the ones that promote your own personal agendas are obviously the the legitimate proxies of the eternal creator!

Why oh why my lord, why oh why are the people of this planet so delusional?

i agree...and if this is the vein he's doing this in....to support some administration policy...then i'm not cool with it.

having said that...i realize i'm a Jesus freak...but i've felt that God has spoken through me, too. times where i felt like words hit my lips that were beyond me....or were especially eloquent...or even out of character/out of my league/beyond me in certain contexts.

We are but vessels. A greater power speaks through us.

Ah George...that wasn't God...it was just Dick Cheney in your earpiece.
