    I don't think these guys were stone-cold-killers or criminal masterminds. They were just stupid kids who did something incredibly stupid and then showed the world. I highly doubt that their family member is afraid of them, as when the cops came to arrest them they were probably crying for their mommies like most "gang-bangers."

    The fact you are a parent is the reason you are not understanding the point here that the cops screwed up.

    We don't even know who it was. It was probably NOT the mother. The point is the cops had no need to tell the perps who it was.

    To reiterate HP's point, he is not complaining about the fact they were turned in by a family member. He is complaining that the police made public details of the person who turned them in.
