lol, looking back at it, I guess every place in the US is screwed up, but... being from the South, my eyes immediately locked on to the sea of dots. Also, I guess I already knew that the South is racist, my initial shock is from seeing that Southerners could ever get organized for anything. And God, look at South Carolina. I know tons of racist people in South Carolina... but there's a difference between just ignorant people spouting off racist rhetoric... and people making little groups. Are we sure that the splc didn't just mark off all of the whites only golf courses? You know that's totally different, since it's just golf.
From that map, Mississippi is just scary looking. This shows some of the reasons I don't live in the deep South anymore. There are certain places where everyone is friendly and hospitable... as long as you're white and they are too. While I feel compelled to defend any place that I'm "from", there is no excuse for a lot of the stuff I heard growing up. Wonder what the geographical distribution would be as a percentage of population? See, Texas is better... well, unless you get too far east. Houston is a lot worse than I would have thought. I live far enough west now that I don't think any of those groups are located in my area. (By the way, New Mexico is a cool place, except for being a long way from everything else, and has very few little dots on this map.)
What happned to Louisiana on that map??? Did it sink into the ocean?? oh? what's that??? oh, it's just covered up in the map key colors??? oh.
Nothing funny about the topic, but this color code is cracking me up. Think of all the groups that are unhappy with their color. The Neo-Nazi's definitely wanted Red, and do you think the Skinheads are happy with their color code? Excellent.
From what I've seen, race relations in Texas are excellent in the big cities. Houston has a black mayor, Lee Brown. Going to the Wal-Mart on HWY6 and Beechnut is a cultural experience, as it's a total melting pot. Austin is very diverse, and San Antonio has a large Hispanic population. Dallas has plenty of Asians, as does Sugar Land. It's places like Jasper and Vidor, however, that give Texas a bad name. Also, apparently the whole Cedric Benson ordeal in Midland earlier this year was due to racist cops trying to get him in trouble.
Couldn't we just cede the wackos a certain chunk of worthless land? Say, in North Dakota or something? I think it'd be interesting to see what kind of society they'd create. Bet they'd be dirt poor and begging to come back in about 15 years, though. "Living space." Gee, that's a scary phrase. What is that in German, now? It's been a while since I studed the Nazis.
