I wonder if I could get my German Grandfather to put on his ole Nazi uni and order a bunch of Jews into a giant chamber at gunpoint.........it's just for a pic! no biggie!
The analogy is horrible on so many points. I'll ignore the most outrageous, and pretend to take it seriously. The Nazis did round up bunches of jews and send them to the gas chamber. Did the U.S. armed forces use aircraft to attack NY? You need a do-over. Because that post is so out of line.
Next Obama "photo op" : An unannounced overflight of Pearl Harbor by 200 or so unmarked fighter/bombers
no it's not. The post I quoted said "no biggie" and "we can't live in the shadow of 9/11 forever" what do you honestly think people are going to do when they see a low flying 747 over Manhattan? laugh and reminisce? stupid mistake by whomever concoted the idea. the photos could not have possibly been that important.
How is this being seen as political? Obama didn't have anything to do with it, according to every story I have seen, and the Pentagon did notify NYC officials that the flyby was going to take place. There were plenty of idiots, to be sure, starting with whoever decided to order NYC officials to keep it quiet. I rather suspect that if NYC was notified of an official flyby, there would have been people in the streets cheering the planes instead of running from them. [Conspiracy theory] Maybe it was a surreptitious test of the response systems in NYC. [/theory]
Why take your time to go back and pull up quotes from another thread? You posted that an article was behind a subscriber wall, and it wasn't. I was hoping you would explain yourself, i.e. it was originally subscriber only, or you thought that it was and you made a mistake.
as ridiculous as saying......"no biggie" to a 747 flying extremely low over Manhattan after 9/11? whatev. I guess people had no scars after WWII either. Especially Jews.
Why? What does that have to do with the misguided analogy? I wasn't the one who used the term to begin with.
look, i'm not going to be baited into saying what someone should be scarred by, at the same time, comparing a one time terrorist act to the holocaust and and a war that killed millions is ridiculous
I don't think anyone is saying this should've taken place. This thread has degenerated into an argument regarding personalities and issues having nothing to do with the actual incident. Regarding the actual incident the opinion appears to be universal this was a bad idea.
