Ackerman: "Through scouting, They(Htine) believed Sengun to be a top 4, top 5 talent." On the twitterspaces
Green: Inner Core AL-P: Outer Core JC KMJ Tate G-Mat: Mantle KPJ ??? Wood ??? Everyone else is crust or asteroid ☄️ for all I care
agreed all 3 are worth developing and holding on to. Couldn’t disagree more that they compliment each other, especially KPJ and Green. In fact, I think that’s the biggest problem. If we are talking fit, KPJ is the odd man out. But I wouldn’t let him go until we see how much he’s improved next year. his position versatility means he doesn’t have to fit perfect next to Green as a point guard.
I agree with Clutch. I think core pieces are players you think you can build your team around. A good test to me is whether or not you would trade a player for the first pick in the draft. Green is the only player on the Rockets roster that I wouldn't trade for the number 1 pick in this year's draft. I love Sengun but I wouldn't hesitate to flip him for the opportunity to draft Chet or Jabari.
One last quick comment. If Green is tier 1 as a core player, Sengun and KPJ tier 2, then Christopher is tier 2.5
Core: Green and Sengun Maybe KPJ Jaygup is getting there. Everyone else is tradeable. I do want to see Garuba in action though.
love seeing KJMartin continue to improve. He has the talent to be a very good player. I hope they give him more minutes.
I think Green is the most important player and why he gets so many minutes, where everyone else is developmental. But I also think it's a bit moot since right now, you really aren't going to trade youth that hasn't reached its full potential yet for something better. There's no point unless things get too crowded. The only way you move KP3 is if you realize he isn't a long term piece for the future (phat contract desires) or can no longer give him significant minutes - in other words he is no longer a fit or if he becomes unhappy being the third guard behind Green and someone else. With AP, you have to think at the very least he is back-up center potential if not starting potential. He's got a post game. He's strong. He rebounds well. His defense is solid. He hustles. Great passer. And he has the potential to be a floor stretcher. I don't see why he won't fit with this team given how hard it is to find big men with his skill set.
Other than 5 Out I am not sure what they are running so I would want a better system installed first. Then you can comfortably go over to the Core. Consistent output.
There should not be tiers lmo. Either Center piece or not but it should be a center piece of winning a championship and not just a low Playoff Seed. If the next Rookies hit the spot as well, then you'd have a serious problem with minutes and contracts. It is a luxury to have though and a task for Tilman to figure out contracts.
The versatility is why they compliment one another. Defense can't clamp them both, late in OT Green got a wide open 3 when the defense doubled KPJ. This game Green was doing the scoring, but KPJ had 10 assists and some strong moments defensively and on the boards. Even when KPJ isn't on, he's still making life easier for Green. Same goes for Sengun.
I'd guess there's never been 5 players under 21 who scored 20+ in the same game from the same team. and the other 3 who accomplished this feat were...
