This implies if a player like A 19 year old Kobe was drafted here you would believe he isn't a foundational piece because 19 year old Kobe would provide the exact same amount of wins as any other player on this roster. This implies that if we drafted someone like Mobley yould sat the same thing because he ain't adding wins also. There is impressive talent on this team. They just are teammates up with a lot of other 19-22 year olds with a novice head coach who doesn't have the demeanor to handle a bunch of 19-22 year old athletes who were seen as "alphas" their entire teenage existence.
Probably someone who can have Luka or LeBron level impact at 19-21 on a roster full of 19-22 year olds as that is the level of player that would increase our winning percentage in any meaningful way of everything else like the coaching staff and lack of experience stay the same.
I'd also not consider Jalen Green part of the core of he's doing exactly what he's doing now in terms of efficiency at age 25 when Mobley and Francis were doing there thing and with vets like Hakeem
Also Jalen Green was averaging 17 ppg at 55% ts in the NBA at 19. At 19 Francis was playing at a community college.
I don't think that was Silas job, I think that was Stone's job so he limited the roster, but I think Silas was supposed to DEVELOP these guys and help identify whom to keep and build around and whom to trade. I don't think we have that clear picture after an entire year, so for me, Silas is a huge failure as a coach. DD
And? You understand the context still exists. You are comparing a age group that still is literally growing into their full adult bodies to the Francis and Mobley era with a bunch of dudes in their mid 20s and competent vets springled around them. Basic **** like frontal lobe brain development isn't yet finished at ages 19-22. That usually happen around ages 23-25.
Fair criteria Are there any players 21 and under in the NBA you'd build around? Edit: I'll expand this to are there any players drafted in the last 2 drafts you'd build around?
I get your point. But there are fewer than 5 players each decade who have the qualifications of your expectations for "core." It takes tremendous luck to get one of those. Even if you get one, you still need to build a contending team around him fast enough before he gets impatient and forces his way out.
Lol if Booker is on your list then why the hell would you say the Rockets don't have a core? Lol wtf? If your threshold ended at Durant level I can say "okay this guy has really high expectations for 'franchise player'... Fine whatever " but you included Booker so now ya, I can't see a justification for your take.
