The Rockets were tanking. The Rockets were not a negative 8.5 with Green on the court even when the Rockets benched two starters, Mathews went cold, Nix wasn't ready, and Garuba was out of shape. While I wouldn't say Green is a 100% lock for stardom, I think looking at the +/- for the team drastically underestimates how well Green played as the Rockets got killed any time he wasn't on the court.

So Sengun isn't our best player?

Or he isn't our best asset?

I guess it's two different things. Between Sengun, Jabari and Green, Sengun is probably closer to his ceiling due to his polish playing in pro leagues before the NBA.

Surely they're different things, right? Does anyone think Jalen Green is actually our best player, like right now, today?

We don't have one, but money is on him or Sengun atm to become our best player.

Man, that Iko asset ranking is awful. See, this is why I had to unsubcribe to the Athletic -- Iko is awful at Rockets coverage. He gives you info from the team, but only because he is the org's mouthpiece full and full. I guess we know how the org ranks the players then, just look at Iko's dumb list.

Damn man, I love how he's drafted, but starting to think we are not in good hands with Stone.

Honestly, disappointed in Vencenie here too. I typically love his perspective. Guess this is just a miss for him (or for me, haha).

Honestly .. . I really like KMartin Jr.
I think he is a guy you have to FIND a role for on this team

Green - KPJ - KMJ - Sengun - Bari would definitely get some run as my starters for a minute

I am not saying he is untouchable but I am saying he has Value and a place in this league

Still think the core is Sengun-Jalen-Jabari-Tari. Need to see these 4 with a better coach. Have concerns but that’s what we’ve got

The core is likely Green, KPJ, Smith, and Tari. They all are able to play the same 5 out style of ball they want to play.

For me the core would def include Jabari. A 6'10 defender with stretch and switching ability is valuable whether as a star or a role player.

You just dont find guys like that unless you are drafting them in the lottery and you always need a guy like that to guard the Giannis and Tatums of other teams. The other players on the team can be made redundant but not Jabarim for example if we resign Harden then KPJ/Green just got superceded. Or if we drafted Wemby then Sengun just got superceded. But Jabari will still be a fixture regardless cuz he can play 3 positions and his role as a 3nD is always necessary.

I think that's kind of what they want. They want to be able to play 5 out on offense, and switch everything on defense. With that lineup, you could do exactly that.

If Harden comes on top of that, you slide KPJ to the 3 and pencil Harden in at the 1 and you have a similar, though worse defensively, scenario.

Personally i don't want Harden back, I'd prefer to see what that first 5 can do over the next 3 or 4 years.
